I did look ODO earlier Mark and it is valid for Anerican dictionary which is probsbly would allow cos they don't allow American spelling but I don't exactly know CD rules

Yeah, US spelling rules it out, I'm afraid, I think CJ De Mooi had it before it was taken out of the British version.

It's not a US spelling. It's only in the US English dictionary, and it's that that rules it out. Read down from here in the Apterous ticket, but basically "Bacteroid etc - for some reason the search engine takes you to the US entry, not sure why, but these are not valid on Countdown."
