Enjoyed the irony of Antoinette declaring HAIRDO in that round

Well done to Antoinette for making the final four and David for making the final eight. If vulgar words like WHATEV can make the dictionary it's about time they let farters in.

Big sigh of relief from Antoinette fans!
I was very happy when one of the words from my shows made a welcome return (TAVERNAS).

I did look ODO earlier Mark and it is valid for Anerican dictionary which is probsbly would allow cos they don't allow American spelling but I don't exactly know CD rules

Yeah, US spelling rules it out, I'm afraid, I think CJ De Mooi had it before it was taken out of the British version.Ciaran McCarthy wrote:I did look ODO earlier Mark and it is valid for Anerican dictionary which is probsbly would allow cos they don't allow American spelling but I don't exactly know CD rules

Well played Antoinette and was good to see David back too. Don't think Antoinette was up to her usual standard, but hopefully she is just saving it for the Semis (or maybe even FINALS)

Re: Spoilers For Thursday December 11th 2014
It's not a US spelling. It's only in the US English dictionary, and it's that that rules it out. Read down from here in the Apterous ticket, but basically "Bacteroid etc - for some reason the search engine takes you to the US entry, not sure why, but these are not valid on Countdown."James Robinson wrote:Mark Murray wrote:not sure if munchie is allowed Ciaran or if it has to be munchies... well done Antoinette..was cheering you from start to finish there..hope you make the finalYeah, US spelling rules it out, I'm afraid, I think CJ De Mooi had it before it was taken out of the British version.Ciaran McCarthy wrote:I did look ODO earlier Mark and it is valid for Anerican dictionary which is probsbly would allow cos they don't allow American spelling but I don't exactly know CD rules

Re: Spoilers For Thursday December 11th 2014
I came into this thread wondering if MUNCHIE was allowed so the posts above cleared that up nicely. Thanks very much!
Also, well done Antoinette on making the semi finals!
