Spoilers for Wednesday March 28th 2012 (Series 66 Prelim 52)

Post by Jordan F »

It seems like we may be having another ladies week on Countdown, not only with Fiona Armstrong still in the corner, but with our latest champ Alison Shipman, who beat Wendy Gabriel en route to today. Can she make it two today, and will this be very similar to the week Victoria James was on?

Join James for the recap later.

What was Alison's word in Round 9? Couldn't hear it clearly.

ALECOST in round 4, RADULAR in round 6, CAROMED, CORDAGE & MERCADO in round 12 and UNRIVETS & VENTURIS in round 13.

2nd Numbers Alt.: (75 - 6 - 5) x ((100 + 50) / 25) = 384

OUGHT.

UNSNARLED in R2.

Alison could make a few more wins at this rate. She's spotting words reasonably consistently. You've heard of the "casual armchair standard", well she's certainly better at Countdown than an armchair is.

Also, we've got loads of esoteric categories on the wiki including episodes presented by Jimmy Carr, people who have not appeared on Countdown (although it'd take a lot of work to make that an exhaustive list), and episodes affected by administrative errors, but we don't yet have "episodes where the conundrum scramble was appropriate for the solution". Today's was a good candidate.

Show off way for the 3rd numbers: ((75-10)x50-100)/25 = 126

Alison is looking like a really decent player with some good spots. She could easily go on for a bit longer.

The member of the audience who solved the conundrum was apparently Jonathan Rawlinson, who will soon be appearing on the show.

I had a feeling that I recognised the person, even though I don't know what Jonathan looked like.
