Would he have influenced you?
Les Dennis, from Family Fortunes and In the Grid, was Channel 4's first choice to host Deal or No Deal. As we all know, they decided on Noel Edmonds.
If Les had been the host, would you have watched it?

Re: Would he have influenced you?
When I was doing GCSE German we were once set homework of making a leaflet for a fictional town. For some reason I decided to make a leaflet entitled "Les Dennis Stadt", which included things like Les Dennis heads for bullet points, adverts for Les Dennis cereal, that sort of thing.
I'm going home this weekend, maybe I'll have a look for it - I remember that I couldn't think of anything to put on one of the pages, so just wrote JA in huge WordArt. My teacher loved it.

DOND is on after Countdown. So it's only a case of leaving the telly on and you find you're watching it. Contrary, it seems, to popular opinion on this site, I think the British version is a format that draws you in (The US version is appalling and I found the Aussie version to be very lack lustre) and the host mightn't necessarily be the make or break of it. Though Noel Edmonds does, of course, have the draw of the fact that he killed a man.Jason Larsen wrote:Les Dennis, from Family Fortunes and In the Grid, was Channel 4's first choice to host Deal or No Deal. Re: Would he have influenced you?
Noel Edmonds is the most boring man on television. Only Dermot O'Dreary comes close to taking his crown.
Les Dennis is a one trick pony who just does impressions of a Coronation Street character who left 12 years ago.
So to sum up, no, I would have been no more likely to have watched this awful-looking show had the other guy got the job instead.

Anne Robinson would have been the most interesting host. She coudl've treated the contestants as though they were playing a game of skill, rather than a guessing game.

Howie Mandel, from St. Elsewhere and our version of Deal or No Deal, is the same way.

So, er...
Cover:
Inside:
What to do with those pesky extra pages?
Detail, so you can find out why Stadt Les Dennis is great (as well as at least one mistake)
And finally, the comment I got for it

I particularly like the sneaky use of an ALLCAPS font to avoid those pesky capitalisation questions. A*.

Re: Would he have influenced you?
Michael, where did that come from?
Here's how I think Anne Robinson would host "Deal or No Deal."
"Martin, you have a 50/50 chance of having the quarter-million in your box. If you go for this, we'll hit you. So, now it's time for me to ask you the question. Deal... or... no deal?"

I can't remember if that's intentional or not, although given that I can't remember what half of it means, that's not too surprising.Charlie Reams wrote:I particularly like the sneaky use of an ALLCAPS font to avoid those pesky capitalisation questions. A*.
