Srsly? CAMELEER sounds like CAVALIER, so he sounds like he's laughing. As in The Laughing Cavalier. And a CAMELEER rides a camel, and camels have humps. Actually.Kai Laddiman wrote:TTT: EELCREAM - "He sounds like he's laughing, but he's actually got the hump."

"Homages? It's definitely a count noun, I don't know if there's a countable sense. Yes, there is." S Dent.
How could there not be a countable sense of a count noun? What if there wasn't? Is there some rule change I don't know about?

She must have meant mass noun. She made a mistake which is fair enough.David Williams wrote:"Homages? It's definitely a count noun, I don't know if there's a countable sense. Yes, there is." S Dent.

What she actually said was "If you pay homage it's definitely a count noun" - in that context she clearly meant mass noun and simply made a verbal slip.David Williams wrote:"Homages? It's definitely a count noun, I don't know if there's a countable sense. Yes, there is." S Dent.

Yes, I think you must be right. I must admit I thought the original meaning was some sort of medieval religious count noun sort of thing, so I had no doubt that HOMAGES was OK, but that's not quite how the dictionary has it.
