Round 1: T I S E N H A P T

David: SHINE (5)
Ethan: PATENTS (7)
DC: PATTIES (7) THESPIAN (8)
OT: PANTHEIST (18)
Score: 0–7 (max 18)

A great from Ethan with his 7 Patents.............over in DC are taking acting lessons with their 8 Thespian which was my spot too...........but a rather interesting 9 missed by all with Pantheist

Image

Round 2: G P S E A N I S B

David: PASSING (7)
Ethan: PASSING (7)
DC: BIGNESS (7)
OT: AGNISES (7) BAGSIES (7) PANSIES (7) SPAEING (7)
Score: 7–14 (max 25)

Round 3: 50, 10, 9, 8, 3, 1. Target: 609.

C1: 610.
C2: 609. (10 + 3 − 1) × 50 + 9 (10)
Score: 7–24 (max 35)

A good numbers solve from Ethan sees David playing catch up with only three round in so far

Teatime teaser: RANCHMOAN -> ANCHORMAN

Round 4: L K A O N Y E R M

David: MONKEY (6)
Ethan: MONKEY (6)
DC: MONKEY (6) MONKERY (7) ALMONER (7)
OT: ALMONRY (7) ANYMORE (7)
Score: 13–30 (max 42)

Our Contestants are Monkeying around as their 6 is Monkey.................A couple of good 7s from DC one of those our recap writer spotted was Almoner

Image

Image

Some silly Japanese TV series.............that was popular in British households in the 1970s

Image

Monkeypox...............some horrible conundrum that Tim Down beat me with

Round 5: T O M I S E L S I

David: MISSILE (7)
Ethan: MISSILE (7)
DC: OILIEST (7)
OT: SLIMIEST (8) SMILIEST (8)
Score: 20–37 (max 50)

Sevens all round............nothing to argue about...................but there were a couple of eights missed by all thankfully not by our recap writer who gets to show off with her 8 Slimiest

Image

Round 6: 50, 6, 9, 2, 9, 3. Target: 284.

C1: 284. 50 × 6 − (9 + 9 − 2) (10)
C2: 285.
Score: 30–37 (max 60)

Nice and straightforward numbers solve that could prove quite valuable for David as it bags him 10 points and reduce the arrears to 7 points

Image

Round 7: R E L U V A G O S

David: LOVERS (6)
Ethan: GLOVERS (7)
DC: LOUVRES (7) GROVELS (7) VALUERS (7)
OT: GAOLERS (7) GRAVELS (7) LOUVARS (7) LOVAGES (7) REGULOS (7) SEVRUGA (7) VELOURS (7) VERGLAS (7)
Score: 30–44 (max 67)

But Ethan hits straight back with his 7 and stretches his lead by 14 points..........then again there were a few 7s to be had............no extra points if you spot them all.........hardly worth arguing about........now now children play nicely now !

Round 8: P G A M E A T D I

David: TAMPED (6)
Ethan: PAGED (5)
DC: DAMAGE (6) MAGPIE (6)
OT: ADIPATE (7) GAMEPAD (7)
Score: 36–44 (max 74)

Another fine round from David with his six Tamped that reduces the arrears to eight points in this see-saw contest.........sixes all round nothing to argue over............our recap writer gets to shine with her 7 Gamepad

Image

Image

Round 9: 50, 6, 6, 9, 2, 3. Target: 166.

C1: 166. 50 × 3 + (9 − 6) × 6 − 2 (10)
C2: 166. (50 + 6) × 3 − 2 (10)
Score: 46–54 (max 84)

Piss easy this one...........I might go and count some sheep

Image

Image

Teatime teaser: DRABWITCH -> BIRDWATCH

Round 10: N S L O E W A U D

David: UNSEAL (6)
Ethan: SLOWED (6)
DC: NODULES (7)
OT: DOUANES (7) LOUDENS (7) UNLADES (7) UNLOADS (7) WALDOES (7)
Score: 52–60 (max 91)

Sixes all round from our contestants again nothing to squabble over...............over in DC they get to shine with their 7 Nodules..........there were a fair few of them.........sadly no extra points for spotting them all

Image

Image

Round 11: T E W I H E C R I

David: CHEWIER (7)
Ethan: witcher
DC: WITCHIER (8)
Score: 59–60 (max 99)

A rather unfortunate round from Ethan with his word Witcher............adding insult to injury there is an unpleasant eight with Witchier that was spotted by DC and our recap writer................David gets to score with his 7 and reduces the arrears to a solitary point

Image

Image

Round 12: T X O U R N E I R

David: RETURN (6)
Ethan: tourine
DC: ROUTINE (7)
OT: ROUTIER (7) RUNTIER (7)
Score: 65–60 (max 106)

Is there another twist to this contest ????? As Ethan has his word disallowed by Susie allowing David to take the lead by five 5 points.........there were a few of Sevens one of those was spotted by DC...........so let's play nicely now

Image

Image

Round 13: G O J A T E F O R

David: FORGOT (6)
Ethan: grafter
DC: FORAGE (6) FOOTAGE (7) FOOTGEAR (8)
Score: 71–60 (max 114)

A rather unfortunate round from Ethan as Susie disallows his word Grafter as there is only one 'R' he will need maximum points in the next round to force a crucial conundrum..............

Image

Over in DC they get a badass 8 with Footgear

Image

Image

Round 14: 50, 75, 25, 6, 9, 4. Target: 651.

C1: 650. 75 × 9 − 25 (7)
C2: 650. 75 × 9 − 25 (7)
RR: 651. 75 × 9 − 6 × 4 (10)
Score: 78–67 (max 124)

Sadly there is no crucial conundrum as both contestants get 1 away.............David is our newest member of the teapot club and our new champion..............sadly for Ethan it is game over

Image

Round 15: A B A D P L A T E

C1 buzzes on 14.75 seconds to say ADAPTABLE which is correct.
Final Score: 88–67 (max 134)

So we have a new champion in David who is the newest member of the teapot club.............take nothing from Ethan he gave as good as he got but faded towards the end.............You can join me again to find out if David can get his second win............in the meantime it is bye for now !
