Hello and Welcome to another recap

ImageImage

Ey Up ' Today is Yorkshire day, and to kick the days proceedings off........Let's enjoy some Yorkshire tea..........these teabags make a nice brew

Image

As it is Yorkshire day let's pay tribute to some of our Countdown Community

Image

Some random dude James Robinson aka Mr Trousered as we all know he supports a silly team called Huddersfield Town..........watch out Stockport County are coming for you !

ImageImage

Image

An even more random dude Callum Todd aka Bundy series 69 champion ( that still stands to this day ) he supports an even sillier football team called Leeds United...........not to be confused with some horrible US serial killer Ted Bundy or the couch potato Al Bundy from Married With Children

Image

Image

ImageImage

Image

And now we have the our boys formerly from Bingley Tom Carey aka Maus.....who turns up for Co:events 1 week early and enjoys sleeping in bushes............Last but not least and the king hag himself George Armstrong aka Geohag

Image

Last but not least........Mr Countdown himself Richard Whiteley who was the original host of Countdown up until his death in 2005. The Richard Whiteley memorial trophy is awarded to every series champion. The first recipient was the Series 54 champion Conor Travers who was 14 years old at the time making him the youngest ever series winner. The most recent recipient is Arthur Page series 89 champion who is the 3rd youngest series champion at 16 years old.

On this day in 1981 the music channel MTV is launched the first song played was Video Killed The Radio Star by The Buggles that was released in 1979. A couple of notable highlights from the VMAs, the first one in 1984 when Madonna played her song Like A Virgin (the album of the name that was released in November 1984 ) she was wearing a bustier/wedding dress and her trademark belt BOYTOY. At the 4th VMAs in 1987 British singer/songwriter Peter Gabriel won a record 10 awards in one night (a record that still stands to this day ) out of the 12 nominations the most ever for a male singer for his music video Sledgehammer from his best selling 5th album So that was released a year earlier, the video itself is iconic and groundbreaking. Sledgehammer always appears in the top 10 of best video polls, it has over 80M views on YouTube and is the most played video on MTV. The 12 nominations Peter Gabriel received in 1987 stood until 2010 when Lady Ga Ga had 13 nominations but won 8 awards the most ever for a female singer.
