Germans gifted win by freak own goal.Michael Wallace wrote:X-Posted from the other thread:

Germany 7 - 6 Ghana (1-0)
I (incorrectly) assumed Stuart would have a 6 in round 4, a decision that ultimately cost Ghana a surprise draw
Haha. Awesome idea, organisational impossibility. So, no!Marc Meakin wrote:Will the 3rd group games be played simultaneously to prevent another West Germany v Austria fiasco in 1982?
Congratulations on being the first result put into the grid. Though not on losing like that.Michael Wallace wrote:Group D:

No idea where the D came from in round 5. I blame the vuvuzelas.Ben Wilson wrote:http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=252883
The mighty Mexicans come from behind to beat France 6-5 in a nailbiting climax.

They deserve a beating, sorry Ben.Ben Wilson wrote:http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=252883

Pay attention Dent. All explained in the organisational thread. No such thing as a draw as far as apterous is concerned, we're just doing them as draws in the AWC group stages cos it's football-like.Ian Dent wrote:Why do some games have conundrums?

Huh? 7-6, really?
Couldn't you be arrested for that in Germany? Or is that an urban myth?
Fantastic Idea!Marc Meakin wrote:Apterous Ryder Cup
It is still the German national anthem. Whoever heard of anybody being arrested for singing their own national anthem?Karen Pearson wrote:Couldn't you best arrested for that in Germany? Or is that an urban myth?

Yes, they dropped the first two verses. Still the same song, though.Michael Wallace wrote:er...Liam Tiernan wrote:It is still the German national anthem. Whoever heard of anybody being arrested for singing their own national anthem?
Except 1) Deutschland uber alles isn't the German national anthem, and ii) singing it was banned (so presumably you could be arrested for it) for a while, which was the main thing I was trying to point out.Liam Tiernan wrote:Yes, they dropped the first two verses. Oops, no not really. 5-6. Cheers for that, don't know what I was thinking.Kirk Bevins wrote:Huh? 7-6, really?
To be honest, it was a game of seven sevenths and a pish-poor performance from the Danes. They missed two sitters handing victory to the more consistent Japanese. Even at this early stage it looks like they'll be heading home in their long-boats without any plunder.Karen Pearson wrote:http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=253067
Japan 6 - 5 Denmark
Japan took an early lead but then made a silly defensive error on the stroke of half time letting the Danes back into the game. They were revitalised by the half time oranges and took the lead again late-ish on in the second half. Learning from their first half mistake, they got all 11 men behind the goal for the final fews minutes and the goalie punched away an easy shot in the final minute.

I can confirm that Denmark did indeed select the Apterous World Cup option, and are thus not guilty of any infringements. When asked if he would like to replay the match against a rigorously drug-tested Dutch team, the Danish manager replied, "Not bloody likely! We were lucky enough to fluke a draw the first time."James Robinson wrote:Group E:

Although, John didn't actually select the Apterous World Cup option, so is it still a proper legal match![]()

Now that the cannabis has worn off, it must have switched from Apterous World Cup to Custom, since we went to a conundrum.John Gillies wrote:DUTCHMAN TESTS POSITIVE FOR CANNABIS!
Not content from gaining only one point from the hapless Danes, the obviously stoned Dutch captain (wrongly) accused the Danes of a breach of the rules.
