TANGELO+E = ELONGATE and FIGURAE+S = ARGUFIES have been successful for me more than once.

TRENAILS+? and NOTARISE+? are worth learning, as is ANGRIEST+?.

Not really. They don't have punctuation in the selection, only letters.

I guess orsetail^+? is fairly handy too, since it's got no valid anagrams but makes 9s with 11 letters.
