Re: Numbers Attack Tournament - Round 1
Very smoothly done Charlie
Just in case it comes up for people at any point, are you letting tied scores be decided by a tie break conundrum as usual, or will it be something else?

Re: Numbers Attack Tournament - Round 1
Oliver Garner beat me 141-131
It was a battle of 6 small vs. 4 large for most of the way, and I turned out to have less of an advantage from 4 large than he had with 6 small.
Then an easy penultimate round killed me off. Good game

Edit: awww he beat me to posting this too.

Jim Bentley 160 - 161 James Hurrell
A really good close game where we both made errors at just the wrong moment (especially me). But it was excellent, I enjoyed it immensely and am already looking forward to the next round.

Michael Wallace 142 - 135 Jon Corby
Pretty terrible start from me (how do you make 3 from 4 4 and 2?!), but then it turned into a pretty exciting game. My relief when the final target came out was enormous.
(and yes, by 'relief' I mean penis)

Re: Numbers Attack Tournament - Round 1
Michael cheated by picking 6 small when he was behind, but 1 large when he was ahead. I move that he be disqualified.

What he said above, a convincing win but early days a bit like losing your first champions league group game.

Dinos Sfyris 177 - 167 Henry Meier
Henry took a 7 point lead early on and the gap remained the same all the way til rd 19 when I finally ditched my 6 small tactic in favour of 4 large which paid off! It then went to a tie-break conundrum.

If I could tell the difference between the + and the X I might just have scraped it. But it was a close and extremely enjoyable game.

The Tournament Manager seems to be working: your game should show up on the appropriate page here automatically (if you have already played, please check that your game is shown correctly).
Feel free to post in here anyway, should you so wish, since it's good for discussion.

We were two very evenly matched (and nervous) players, but Clive was rather quicker than me at spotting when a solution required a bit of lateral thinking. Pleased to be no longer a tournament virgin!

Ben Wilson 145-141 Lee Simmonds
Horrifically scrappy start from me, but my tactic of clawing back points on 6 small games worked in the end. Lee played scarily well though.

James Levison 145 - 162 Julie Taylor
http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=122905
It was a very close game, then James made an unfortunate (for him) tactical move towards the end, in choosing 6 small numbers a couple of times, and his game fell apart rather. He rallied to win the final round, but I won overall.
Great game, James, thanks, exciting, very evenly matched.
