C1: SHARPEN (7)
C2: SHARPEN (7)
DC: APHORISE (8)
Score: 13–20 (max 22)

Round 4: D I P E D I Z E E
C1: DEEP (4)

DC: PEEDIE (6)
Score: 17–24 (max 28)
A very obscure Scottish word spotted by DC.
Round 5: 100, 1, 10, 6, 8, 1. Target: 333.

Dr. Phil (YAY!) kicks off his week of 3-minute medical lessons with an introduction to the fashion accessories known as stethoscopes. Honest.
Teatime teaser: INDEXPAP -> APPENDIX
Round 6: T I L U P A L I H

C1: REALISE (7)
C2: SEALER (6)
DC: FEASIBLE (8) BARFLIES (8)
OT: BALEFIRES (18)

Until now! Jimmy seems to have brain freeze and misses a few 7s. Then Jeff: "Would it be FEASIBLE to say there were any 8s?"
DC: "Yes, there was BARFLIES."
Great 9 though, I remember seeing it on Rex's 9s list twice the other day. I still missed it.
OoW: Susie talks about the inevitability of the '1,000,000th word' (which turned out to be "Web 2.0", a term ) and says how it could be from Chinese (yup, it sounds pretty Chinese to me).
Round 10: 25, 3, 1, 4, 2, 4. Target: 214.

C2: 214. (25 + 2) x (4 + 4) - (3 - 1) (10)

Score: 74–83 (max 117)
A 'tactical' choice of 4 large partially pays off in an unusual way for Jimmy. Why is 4 large considered tactical? I always choose it.
Round 15: N I N E C A R A T
C2 buzzes on 17 seconds to say CENTARIAN which is incorrect.
C1 buzzes on 29 seconds to say "I haven't got a clue" which is, surprisingly, incorrect.
The answer was INCARNATE.
Score: 74–83 (max 127)
Ah, the bliss of the 'I just wanted to press the buzzer one more time' mentality. And, er, Jimmy got the conunudrum wrong after buzzing in first, again.
A great game the two of them provided, which was high in spirit and tension, even if low on scores.
And now we head over to SC (Statistics Corner) for a summary of today's game.

So obscure, indeed, that I've only ever heard one person use it, and that was Sweyn Kirkness who repeatedly asked Carol for "one big number and five peedie ones".Kai Laddiman wrote:DC: PEEDIE (6)

Also ADENINE is a mass noun so ADENINES is dubious. I wouldn't accept.

I agree - you might use a plural informally, e;g; "There are 27 adenines in this fragment of DNA", but technically that's wrong. We have had this argument many times about other chemicals....
