Pick my new home!
I have decided to become a perpetual student but, unfortunately, this entails leaving the glorious statelet of Northern Ireland [clears throats and spits on the ground]. Of these three cities which would be the best homeland for an Irishman with problems with profanities and booze?
(Obviously I am not going to base my life on the result of a C4C poll or am I?)

I voted Cardiff because it's the only one of those places I've been to.

I voted Lancaster, because we welcome witty, self-deprecating Irishmen here in England, albeit moral meat-bashing ones.

Dundee, it's fucking excellent. There's loads of good pubs - I used to live above one and opposite another, plus there were at least a further ten within 100 yards - and rented accommodation is extremely cheap in the city centre if you're OK with something basic.

Lancaster, without a doubt. It's closest to Manchester, so you can easily get to see recordings. Also handier than either of the others for CoLin and CoNot.

Very easily: Northern Ireland is a shithole! I voted Lancaster for two reasons. One is Dundee and Cardiff are in different countries and too far out and the other reason is York and Lancaster battle it out once a year at Roses and it would be awesome to see you one time and shout abuse at you. We should even try and get Countdown in Roses. That would be awesome. Sadly I'm now too old to play Roses darts but I'll be suited and booted and shouting the matches this year. The atmosphere is always immense. Go do it!

Re: Pick my new home!
What was the decision on this in the end, and did you decide it on the results of this poll?

Not yet, though Cardiff seems to be the heavy favourite (though not amongst those answering the poll).Derek Hazell wrote:What was the decision on this in the end, and did you decide it on the results of this poll?

Er...so is Lancaster to the OP, who is in Northern Ireland.Kirk Bevins wrote:I voted Lancaster for two reasons. One is Dundee and Cardiff are in different countries
Lancaster is one of those places that I'd passed many times on the M6 and thought it looked like an attractive sort of place. So one day I decided to detour and see what is was like. What a mistake! It was a complete shithole (with apologies to anyone who lives there.)
Dundee has certainly improved in recent years but, well it's still Dundee. 'Nuff said.
Cardiff on the other hand is a city that has changed beyond recognition oveer the past couple of decades and, if your choice is limited to those three places I'd suggest Cardiff over the other two.
Edited to add - I just noticed that this is an old post but, as the OP hasn't yet reached a decision maybe my tuppence worth will help. Or not.

Re: Pick my new home!
Lancaster has been reported as having the highest suicide rate in England, or maybe even the UK.
This may be because it is the arse end of nowhere. Dundee and Cardiff are both far more pleasant, despite being foreign.
