British snooker player Steve Davis became the first player to achieve a televised maximum break in 1982 it is memeorable for a lot of reasons my late mum and nana allowed me to stay up and watch this amazing achievement even though it was a school night ! For the maximum he won a Lada car !

The Lada Classic a tournament that ran from 1980-1992 Steve Davis won it 6 times

Canadian snooker player Cliff Thorburn who became the first overseas snooker player to win his only world championship in 1980, and the 2nd player to achieve a televised maximum break in 1983.....but the first one in the Embassy world championships where he lost in the final to Steve Davis in the same year.
