Countdown on All 4

Post by Gavin Chipper »

I haven't been able to watch yesterday's (Mon 4/10/21) game because it hasn't appeared on All 4. Also Friday's game isn't on there either (but I watched that on TV). Is this due to the ongoing problems they've been having does anyone know?

No episode on All 4 since 1 October. Really annoying as we don’t have a recording box.

Thanks. There should be a note on the site. It's pretty weak from them.

It seems weird that Channel 4 are uniquely affected long-term by something that affected many channels at the time. A fire alarm going off of all things. Also known as "activation of the fire suppression systems".

It's also really weird that they managed to get last Monday's game up (4th October) but nothing since. To say it's beginning to look a bit unprofessional would be quite an understatement.

The loss of subtitles means I'm missing most of what's being said - for example Anne starts with "today is (????) (?????) day" and Rachel responds, but I can't make out what it's about. Also, unless I've already thought of it, I hardly ever get what dictionary corner have found if Rachel doesn't put it up, nor do I understand Susie's special spot  :(

Same here, haven't seen any episodes from the 1st of October episode onwards (I don't want to watch the 4th of October episode listed when I haven't seen the 1st of October one yet), Channel 4 have made a complete Horlicks of it all, just when it was getting exciting.

No problems on Channel 4 (ie real television) apart from the subtitles issue.

I've just seen they've got the new shows on All 4 now. Well everything from Thursday 14th October, but still a big gap after Monday 4th.

They'll be showing the 5th of October episode tomorrow on Channel 4 at 6.05am. I presume they'll be showing the episodes after that in that time slot on following days.

Cool. By the way, I was going to watch today's episode on 4+1, but it was just a frozen screen for ages so I gave up and watched a couple of the ones that actually are on All 4.

Last Friday's game still isn't up even though I think they eventually showed it. And bizarrely neither is yesterday's. What a shitshow.

Actually they have been uploaded now, and so has Stu’s 8th game I’m pleased to say (indicated by the time slot first shown, 6:10 am). I have the iPad version.

They haven't uploaded this Wednesday's game (25th May). Rumours suggest that it was caused by someone not eating their Weetabix quickly enough causing it to go all soggy.

So as usual, when there's an episode I'm unable to watch "live" or on +1, they don't bother to put it on All 4. Absolute shitshow.

As of writing this comment, the 13 June 2022 canned be streamed, but can be watched offline after downloading it. Very strange.

As far as I can see, the CoC final that replaced the 8th June game isn't up. Presumably if they do put it up they'll hide it right at the bottom of the chronological list because they're a bunch of amateurs.

C4 is pretty poor online. If you're watching a show just behind live it has a very high probability of breaking and then you just have to wait until the full programme is available on catch-up. You only have the option of watching live or going back to the start. You can't go back to any point like on the iPlayer and that makes it incredibly vulnerable to its frequent breakages.

It's a pretty fucking awful service really.

They just call it Channel 4 now. Just so it becomes harder for people to make clear the distinction when they're discussing it. Another bright idea.

Ah, I see. Has it changed in terms of how it works since the rebrand?

I think occasionally there’s a bit of a delay with uploading episodes of TV shows online. So there may be some days where it takes 10-40 minutes to upload.

It's not letting me watch from the start when I go to watch live. So I've got to wait until at least 3:00 now. Maybe a legacy of someone burning that toast back in 2021.
