CoC Preliminary 8 Spoilers For Wednesday January 13th 2016
So, we're now at the halfway point with the final preliminary match of the Champion of Champions, despite Nick's best efforts to make us think it was yesterday.
And today's match, as titled on a Facebook page is a "Battle of the Leprechauns" with 2 Irish players in head-to-head combat for the right to face Dan McColm in next Tuesday's quarter-final.
We have Series 71 runner-up Antoinette Ryan taking on Series 70 champion Mark Murray.
Of course, both will want to play Dan for different reason, Antoinette to get revenge for him beating her in their series final, and Mark to see who's the champion of 2014.
Statistics Corner:
Firstly, Series 71 Runner-Up Antoinette "The Nenagh Nutcracker" Ryan - 11 Games, 10 Wins, 1,130 Points. (Average: 102.73)
Highest Score: 120 vs. Tom Jordan (2nd Game)
Lowest Score: 82 vs. David Stanford (Quarter-Final)
9's Achieved: 5/12
Total Points/Max/%: 1130/1475 (77%)
Letters Points/Max/%: 820/928 (88%)
Numbers Points/Max/%: 380/437 (87%)
Conundrum Points/Max/%: 30/110 (27%)
Secondly, Series 70 Champion Mark "The Bristol Bombardier" Murray - 11 Games, 11 Wins, 1.191 Points. (Average: 108.27)
Highest Score: 122 vs. Mike Wilson (7th Game)
Lowest Score: 89 vs. Neil Green (Semi-Final)
9's Achieved: 7/9
Total Points/Max/%: 1191/1449 (82%)
Letters Points/Max/%: 745/902 (83%)
Numbers Points/Max/%: 376/437 (86%)
Conundrum Points/Max/%: 70/110 (64%)
I'll be around with the recap later.

I can't tell whether Nick calling Fifty Shades of Grey a "spanking good read" was an intended pun or not...

Graeme-ish question: In Rounds 10/11 today, the vowel pile contained three consecutive As. Consecutive matching (i.e., repeated) letters have seemed to me to be even rarer than usual lately. Is this the first instance of a repeated letter anywhere in CoC XIV?
I'm not dead yet. In a rut right now because of stress from work. I'll be back later in S89. I also plan to bring back the Mastergram - if I can find a way to run a timer or clock through pure MediaWiki without having to upload to Vimeo every time.

It is, and there's been a large number of pairs separated by a single tile throughout.Johnny Canuck wrote:Graeme-ish question: In Rounds 10/11 today, the vowel pile contained three consecutive As. Thought so. Maybe they're making up for the "shuffling algorithm" from CoC XIII.Thomas Cappleman wrote:It is, and there's been a large number of pairs separated by a single tile throughout.Johnny Canuck wrote:Graeme-ish question: In Rounds 10/11 today, the vowel pile contained three consecutive As. Great game. Although why have a notepad and not write your words down? (Best joke ever)
Also, nice pyjamas Susie!

I just came here to say that it was ironic that Antoinette had NOTEPAD but hadn't written it down. I also noticed that Susie was wearing her pyjamas again when I watched it today. Some things obviously ever change.Gavin Chipper wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2016 8:07 pm Great game. Although why have a notepad and not write your words down? (Best joke ever)
