Only two years ago Oliver was competing in the World Youth Scrabble Championships in Malaysia in 2011. Yesterday he completed a three day Scrabble Tournament (British Matchplay Scrabble Championship) at the Yarnfield Conference Centre near Stone, Staffordshire where not only did he finished runner up with 15 wins from 21 games but also qualified for the Scrabble Champions Tournament (World Championship) in Prague happening in December this year. Great achievement as 9 of the top ten finishers were all Scrabble Grand Masters and Oliver is currently untitled.
I saw something about this on Facebook, but didn't realise quite how awesome an achievement it was - especially with regard to finishing 2nd in a top 10 with so many Grand Masters. Fantastic stuff, well done Oli!

Yes, not to be outdone.... Paul has won the 'Grand Slam' of Scrabble: Paul is now reigning Irish National Champion, National Scrabble Champion (of the UK), Masters and finally the British Matchplay Scrabble Championship champion. Paul gets to defend his NSC title at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium in two weeks' time which is the semi final stage.
I'd almost forgotten Paul was a Countdown champion too, until Edward's post.

Wasn't Countdown's Mark Nyman the world Scrabble champ at one point?
