Resuming daily duels?
Resuming daily duels?
I had to quit my daily duel thanks to WSOD, is there any way to resume it or are my day's efforts going to be in vain?

In general it's not possible to resume Duels (for obvious cheaty reasons) but if I'd seen this before midnight I could've sorted it out for you. Sorry

Yey. I can play the weekly daily duels now
. Awesome.
Also, how does the scoring work (in the points table)?

Badly. The current system is 5 points for 1st, 3 for 2nd, 2 for 3rd and 1 for 4th. But that's from the days when only two or three people played the duel. I now think it's unfair that you can come 5th out of 20 people and get no credit for it. So I will probably change the system this weekend.Joseph Bolas wrote:Also, how does the scoring work (in the points table)?

I don't know if you are after any suggestions Charlie, but I was thinking, would it not be possible to devise a scoring system where the points on offer depends on the number of players and where they come.Charlie Reams wrote:Badly. For example, if there were 20 participants, first place would get 20 points and last place would get 1 point, likewise if there were only 15 participants, first place would get 15 points and last place gets 1 point, with any ties getting the same score. So going by yesterday's game, for example, the scoring would be:
01. Paul Howe - 14 points.
01. Jon O'Neill - 14 points.
01. Kirk Bevins - 14 points.
04. Mikey Lear - 11 points.
04. Ben Wilson - 11 points.
04. Dinos Sfyris - 11 points.
04. Jon Corby - 11 points.
08. Charlie Reams - 7 points.
09. Jim Bentley - 7 points.
09. Ben Pugh - 7 points.
11. Nick Wainwright - 4 points.
12. Karen Pearson - 3 points.
13. Debbi Flack - 2 points.
14. Matt Coates - 1 point.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I'm planning. I think I'll through in a bonus point for a perfect score, too.

But then that's even worse than Formula One in how it rewards the winner. You could have it so that your score is the reciprocal of your finishing position, or something based loosely on that.Joseph Bolas wrote:I don't know if you are after any suggestions Charlie, but I was thinking, would it not be possible to devise a scoring system where the points on offer depends on the number of players and where they come.

Well, the new scoring system in F1 is ok.....Gavin Chipper wrote:But then that's even worse than Formula One in how it rewards the winner. No it's not. Second place still gets 72% of the winner's points, down from 80, but it's still too high. From 1991 to 2002 it was 60%, which worked much better and was probably more popular (I'd have 50% personally).Rhys Benjamin wrote:Well, the new scoring system in F1 is ok.....
