Anagrams of brand names
Hi guys,
Whilst in the shower this morning (the shower is where I have many of my Countdownish ponders) I realised that Pantene is an anagram of PENNATE, which a few people may remember for Eoin M getting it but deciding not to risk it on his first show. Then after, when I was brushing my teeth, I realised that Colgate was an anagram of GELCOAT. Can anyone think of any more?
List:
Pantene = PENNATE
Colgate = GELCOAT

Evian is a semordnilap of naive. If you don't know what that means, google is always a good place to start.
Also, I think this might have been discussed elsewhere. But this list will be bigger and better!Eoin Monaghan wrote:Something like this has been discussed before

Sat in the hairdressers today whilst women drank cups of teas and chatted about whether they like Robbie are Gary better and I spotted a brand name anagram:
Indola = DOLINA/LADINO

We had a poster up in our canteen earlier saying how some food product made by a company called GranoVita was being recalled. I was like 'navigator' and everyone was all like wow that was amazing and I was like

Not a brand name, but serving two women on box office the other night I said "That's in SCREEN TWO" and I was all like SWEETCORN! (just in my head. I don't just blurt anagrams at randoms)
Then they proceeded to head the wrong way to the screen, and I was gonna shout "OI BITCHES!" but that would be a breach of bioethics.

Tesremos Drawoh is an awesome name. Maybe I'll call my 3rd cat Tesremos (I already have names earmarked for the first 2).Howard Somerset wrote:When I was a kid, and spelt my entire name backwards, not just first and last names, I was convinced that Trebor sweets were produced just for me.Eoin Monaghan wrote:TREBOR is Robert backwards.

Re: Anagrams of brand names
I was wondering this, as the way the news was talking about it was as though it was a British company. Turns out it's actually Canadian, so I'm guessing French Canadian. Paxo said it the British way the first time he said it on Newsnight last night and I thought he was making some sort of point, but then he reverted to the ooh-la-la pronunciation for the rest of the report, the pussy.Ian Volante wrote:And why the fuck can't anyone pronounce Bombardier properly?Phil Reynolds wrote:No doubt anagrammatically minded employees of Bombardier are today ruefully reflecting that SIEMENS = NEMESIS.

No, that's right (well, if you're pronouncing it the British way). This Bombardier seems to be pronounced BOM-BAH-DEE-AY.Ryan Taylor wrote:How is bombardier pronounced? I'd say BOMB-BUH-DEER, I'm guessing that's wrong?

Re: Anagrams of brand names
I assumed it must have been the Canadian connection, but then there wasn't a consensus on the radio news either, so I was half assuming that the newsreaders were just being a bit thick, as they often can be.JimBentley wrote:No, that's right (well, if you're pronouncing it the British way). Not a brand name per se, but I was playing Smash Bros. Melee and was psyched to discover that DR. MARIO = MIRADOR.
Also, this is like the best subforum ever. Why is it dead?

I'm not dead yet. In a rut right now because of stress from work. I'll be back later in S89. I also plan to bring back the Mastergram - if I can find a way to run a timer or clock through pure MediaWiki without having to upload to Vimeo every time.
