Round 1: N G S D A E O T R

C1: STRANGE (7)
C2: STORAGE (7)
DC: DRAGONETS (18)
Score: 7–7 (max 18)

7's each for the contestants, but DC open up the taps early with a 9. 8-)

C2: VACATES (7)
OT: CATENAS (7) CAVEATS (7) SAVANTE (7)

A few more 7's around this time.

A SAVANTE is a woman of great learning or in other words, a sage.

Round 3: D P L I U T A O Q

C1: QUILT (5)
C2: plaudit
OT: ALIQUOT (7)
Score: 19–14 (max 32)

No plaudit for Emma as Graham makes the first breakthrough in this game.

An ALIQUOT is a portion of the whole, especially one of two or more samples of something that have the same volume or weight.

Round 4: U A P S R E I F T

C1: FAIREST (7)
C2: TRAIPSE (7)
DC: PASTURE (7) SURFEIT (7)

Score: 26–21 (max 39)

PANCAKE TIME!!! :D :D :D

Round 5: 25, 100, 50, 75, 2, 3. Target: 740.

C1: 750. (3 x 2 x 100) + 75 + 50 + 25 (5)
C2: -
OT: 741. (((25 x 100) - 50 - 2) / 3) - 75 (7)
Score: 31–21 (max 46)

A tricky 4 large, where Emma blanks out, Graham just makes it into points territory, and Rachel even concedes defeat.

Ken gives some more talk about the English language.

Teatime teaser: DOBUNGLE -> BLUDGEON

Round 6: H S R O E A N V B

C1: ASHORE (6)
C2: RAVENS (6)
DC: BRAVOES (7)
OT: BORANES (7) HOARSEN (7) SENHORA (7)

Round 8: E A T S O C D F I

C1: COASTED (7)
C2: COATED (6)
DC: FACTOIDS (8)
Score: 52–35 (max 69)

C2: HOMIES (6)
DC: HEINOUS (7)
OT: INHUMES (7)
Score: 52–41 (max 76)

Moving on.........

Teatime teaser: TOMSATON -> OTTOMANS

Round 11: G Z R L E O A D A

C1: GLAZER (6)
C2: LODGER (6)
DC: ORDEAL (6) GELADA (6)
OT: AZAROLE (7)
Score: 68–57 (max 93)

6's apiece as the darrenic 7 is left alone.

An AZAROLE is another name for the Neapolitan medlar (Crataegus azarolus), a shrub of southern Europe.

Round 12: M Y T E U E D N E

C1: MUTED (5)
C2: UNMET (5)
DC: DETUNE (6)
OT: DETENUE (7)
Score: 73–62 (max 100)

Still a manageable gap for Emma to claw back. Another darren missed by all too.

Round 13: W R L A O I S N R

C1: SWIRL (5)
C2: SAILOR (6)
DC: ROWANS (6)
OT: NARROWS (7)
Score: 73–68 (max 107)

HELLO SAILOR!!!! I bet that's what Emma was thinking when she heard Graham say he just had a 5. This last numbers game could now be the critical round in this game......

Round 14: 75, 8, 2, 7, 5, 1. Target: 409.

C1: 407. Mistake in working.
C2: -
RR: 409. ((75 - 7) x (8 - 2)) - 5 (10)
Score: 73–68 (max 117)

.....or not. After Emma declared nothing, it seemed like it was all over, but Graham miscalculates and so a crucial conundrum has suddenly come out of the blue. 8-)

Round 15: I N I O Y S T E R

No one buzzes. The answer was SENIORITY.
Final Score: 73–68 (max 127)

But Emma can't take advantage of that stroke of luck, and it's left to a woman by the name of Mary to solve it. Apparently she's tomorrow's contestant, so Graham might be worrying a bit.

But for now, he has made it 6 wins out of 6, and has now moved up to #5 in the rankings, but he'll have to have 2 good final wins to break into the top 4. I wonder if he'll manage it.... :?

Join Mike tomorrow for his 7th match.

So, till next week, bye bye. ;) :) :D

Not like you to make a mistake, James, but isn't a SAVANTE always a female? :geek:

Oh yeah, really you should have got a "woman of wise learning" to tell me off there.
