Hello and welcome to another Wednesday recap...........our champion Amy is going strong with her three wins so far..........can she take one step closer to her fourth win ?

On that note it is national cheese day.............let's have some fun with some rather cheesy movies and some rather cheesy music !

Grease is a music rom-com that was based on the 1971 stage musical of the same name, it's soundtrack was released 2 months before the film it sold over 30 million copies worldwide, the most successful singles from the soundtrack include the two karaoke favourites You're the one that I want topped the charts for an amazing 9 weeks, and in the same year Summer Nights was equally as successful staying at no 1 for seven weeks. Grease became the highest grossing film in 1978 earning over $300M at the box office against a $6M budget......this was billed as the film nobody wanted to miss !

Flash Gordon is a 1980 space-opera film, despite it's moderate box office success it became a cult classic, it's lead actor Sam J Jones who was a former American football player and model played the titular character that made cameo appearances in Ted 1 and Ted 2 outside of acting he is a regular on the comic-con circuit. Other notable actors Brian Blessed known for his big beard and loud booming voice plays Prince Vultan who helps Flash defeat Emperor Ming. Seven years before he won the role of James Bond Timothy Dalton plays Prince Barin who is Flash Gordon's ally and ends up the ruler of Mongo. The soundtrack for the film was written and composed by the British rock group Queen.

Let's move on to cheesy music and let's start with Bucks Fizz they are an English pop group they are remembered for their victory at the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest, but what is iconic about their performance that the male band members ripped the outer skirts of the female band members to reveal their short miniskirts, post Eurovision they have a had successful career up until 1984 when they were on the way back from a performance when their coach crashed injuring 3 of it's members but leaving Mike Nolan with life changing injuries. Cheryl Baker made her dictionary corner debut in 2011 and her last appearance was in 2024.

Even more cheese in the form of Chas and Dave they are an English pop duo, They were most notable as creators and performers of a musical style labelled rockney (a portmanteau of rock and cockney). They had success in the early 1980s with their 1980 smash Rabbit, the title comes from the Cockney rhyming slang "rabbit and pork" meaning "talk". The song is about a relationship between a man and a woman, in which the man expresses his love for his girlfriend, but complains that she will not stop talking or, "rabbiting". More success followed with their highest charting single Ain't no pleasing you that peaked at no 2. Further success followed with their 1986 smash Snooker Loopy featuring the Matchroom Mob peaking at no 6.........a less successful single followed the rather silly Romford Rap peaking at 91........less said about this the better !
