As we end the week, Giles keeps on impressing. In 5 games he's already broken the 600 mark, with an average still over 120 points per game. Can he get the 6th under his belt to end the week?

Alt 8 in rd 11 - MOONRISE

Another superb game Giles against a very good opponent in Alan. Well done. Looking forward to seeing your run finish next week.

Great game. Alan put up a hell of a fight, but Giles got yet another incredible victory. His average score is going to be huge!

This was an important game for me too, as it is the final one I get to watch before filming. Let's see how I did against today's contestants.

R1 - SWAGGER
R2 - UNEARTHS
R3 - On Target - 8 + 8 = 16 x 50 = 800 - 9 - 3 = 788
R4 - FAMINE (I also spotted INFLAME but wasn't certain if it was spelt like that or as ENFLAME so wouldn't have declared it in case).
R5 - DUTIES (I have a bad habit of spotting DUTIES but not looking for the D or the S to make STUDIED/S)
R6 - On Target - 8 + 1 = 9 x 100 = 900. 4 x 7 = 28 - 6 = 22 + 900 = 922
R7 - MEAGRE
R8 - RATOON
R9 - 1 Away (75 + 9 = 81 x 4 = 345 - 5 = 341... By the time I realized I should have used the 8 the clock was gone and it was already been declared.)
R10 - DEPOSIT
R11 - MOONRISE (I love this word for some reason. Went unnoticed in the studio.)
R12 - CRANKS
R13 - JOTTERS
R14 - 809 - (6 + 4 = 10 x 8 = 80. 6 + 4 = 10 x 80 = 800 + 9 = 809)
Conundrum - Do I need to tell you Giles beat me. Damn, he's good at those.

Final scores: Giles, as you guessed, beat me 129-67. Alan also beat me 95 - 76. Missing the nine and the numbers game really let me down this time around.

Right. So then... no more playing along. On Monday I do it for real.

I was very impressed with Alan today.

Good challenger there, I had to gamble moorlines too at home, only had LOONIER.

Great game by both, I thought Alan had done it with MOORLINES, for some reason I thought it sounded familiar. I may have gone for it too had I seen it. Well done to Giles for getting your highest score yet and against your toughest opponent so far.

Yup, the previous best was 129 by a certain Giles Hutchings on his début 9 days ago............

Supreme effort again, Giles. Alan was a very good opponent too. Probably could have won a few if he hadn't met you.

I still can't help feeling that Alan would have been a serious contender for the semi-finals had he not come up against Giles. Fantastic non-apto contestant, one of the best imo.
