Someone who scored with a 1 letter word

I've scored with a 1 letter word a few times, usually when I try to wing a word, don't get beyond the first letter and the opponent declares nothing/invalid.

"I" has been declared 39 times on Apterous so far. It seems that Charlie accidentally removed it from the dictionary while he was adding in the new Hypercountdown words though.

Some time between here and here, S also apparently ceased to be a valid word.

Is Charlie on vacation already or is he still here?

I want to tell him that I is a valid word.

P.S. I'm glad he discovered that s is not a valid word.

P.P.S. Junaid, it's good to hear from you. Now, I know you watch Channel 4 more than you watch "that other station!"

s is a valid word, as is every letter in the alphabet. This needs to be added. Charlie knows that I is a valid word - don't worry Jason.

Yes, he once looked at a photo of David Beckham, and said "I look beautiful" at least 3 times.

This was a waste of a chance to impress my countdown idol. Still, Mark was a nice guy and it was a pleasure to play with him. Mixed emotions really.

In my last game, I declared WEINER and it wasn't allowed!

Looks to me like he had a complete maximum game until he missed the conundrum.

Interesting game for a whole different reason too.

Not sure if you clicked on the link that Chris very kindly added to his previous post, Jason, but clicking on the link really helps understand why he could probably be frustrated.

This is the thread of scrag, not frustration. Perfect grounds for confusion if you ask me :)

However it works, I think he'd already finished doing it by the time he met you, Dinos:

http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=179078

I hope there's going to be a kind of mirror image Sponge who starts by knowing everything but gradually forgets it, like an Apterous Alzheimer or something (actually given the amount of super-obscure words that almost never come up, he could probably stay competitive for quite a long time).

I just assumed Charlie made Apterous Sponge a numbers wizard so that once Sponge starts caning the letters people can't squeeze him dry of ratings points in numbers attacks.

He shouldn't be able to do a numbers game unless that exact solution has come up before! ;)

At least you can claim that you knew what was going on, but somehow managed to misclick in a 10-second hurry. We have documentary evidence that we declared one away with a solution that had a 1 left over.

Yeah I actually didn't though. Somehow I was so set on coming down from 750 that I didn't notice the 9 in the selection, and then my method involved using the 2 twice. It's quite possible I would've made the same error in 30 seconds.

I often find with numbers you can get some really satisfying solutions and then find yourself embarrassed by something really easy straight after. I imagine everyone's done it (maybe not Junaid).

Derek was keen for me to put a posting on the forum of this game. This seems an appropriate thread.

http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=200112

In round 6 I got SWERVING and asked the question about OVERSWING, not realising WINGOVERS was a word.

In round 8 Derek got PERUSING and asked the question about REPULSING. He was most upset to realise that it was a valid 9 letter word.

As an aside, the stats show this as my highest scoring game. However, with only 10 maxes, it didn't feel like it. Maybe the high score was helped by me getting the conundrum - a feat I rarely achieve.
