The alphabetically-linked teasers conspiracy theory, as raised the other day, holds true! How exciting.

Getting painfully slow now Jonathan. What'd that take you? 5 seconds? Regardless of this painfully slow reaction, another hard fought win for you, very well done. Unlucky Andrew, you played very well, just happened to come across a very hard conundrum against someone who seems to be developing quite the conundrum niche.

Great game guys! You both played very well. Jonathan is proving hard to beat on these conundrums!

Very well played to both of you, particularly to Jonathan for the excellent conundrum spot! Andrew was very unlucky to lose that.

Another excellent game and an excellent conundrum spot by Jonathan at the end. I wouldn't have got that conundrum had I had a whole day to get it, so for someone to get it in 5 seconds is absolutely awesome.

Another cracking game. We have come to expect nothing less in this series. That was an impressive scoreline with what were IMHO an awkward set of letters.
Good to see Dudley getting lots of airtime.

I was just going to link this game when I realised that Rawlo wouldn't be able to see it without logging in to apterous. So I took a screenshot as well. We miss you!Innis Carson wrote:Who's this stranger

Re: Birthday Championship Spoilers For Friday February 8th 2
This was such an exciting game to watch from the audience. Jonathan must have been shitting himself when Susie was looking up UNMIXES! Very good solve on the conundrum under the pressure. I think it's one that's very difficult if you haven't seen it before, so I guess all Jonathan's conundrum practice has paid off. Great performance from Andrew to take it all the way, and he was unfortunate his risks didn't pay off in the end. Before this game I would have tipped the winner to get to the semi final, but lets see!

A great game.
My workmate just text me asking why Andrew would risk a seven and not play a safe six (he's definitely getting into Countdown if that's the type of comment he's making).

Great game guys and I loved watching this from the audience - thanks for treating us to a cracker! Brilliant conundrum spot too with a word I'd never heard of.
I genuinely don't know any other results after this match as it was the last recording of the day but having knocked out Ed and now Andy, I'm thinking Jonathan could well be a dark horse in the favourites to win this tournament as on his day he's pretty damn good on his day and I was never able to get anywhere near him on Apterous.

Probably the second tallest ever series finalist.

25×10-100/(75-50)+3=249 for the standard method.
Also I got the disallowed icewater in one of the rounds. Shame.

First Round Game 15 2020 Word Update
The max would have increased by one (from 115 to 116), if played today, as there was 7's available in Round 4, that weren't available in 2013.
Notably, Andrew would've had UNMIXES allowed in Round 12 if played today, so instead of losing by 7 points, he'd have won by 6 points, as a 98-91 defeat would've turned into a 98-92 win for him...
New Words Now Allowed:
R1: OUVERTS, RETOURS, ROUSTER, SOUTHER
R2: MARUDI, MURAJI, RUMAKI
R3: PEICEN, PETUNE, PICEIN, PICINE, PIECEN, PIETIC, PINCIE, PINITE
R4: OVALOID, OVOIDAL (increases MAX from 6 to 7)
R6: IATRIC
R7: GODISES, MISDOES
R9: AGRESTAL, PARTAGES
R11: LEPROSED
R12: MAXINAS, UNMIXES
R13: RENEGATE
