It's the end of another week on Countdown, and after David Barnard became an octochamp yesterday, we have two new contestants today. Of note, only two people left at this point could take the last place in the finals after yesterday; Grant Waters, and the winner of today's game, if he or she were to become an octochamp. We'll see who could rise to the challenge. It's the end of John Inverdale, for some reason I liked him in the corner although part of me suspects I shouldn't have.

First numbers game: When I find numbers games that easy I try to exercise my brain by solving it *without* using the big number! (5 6 3 5 10 = 306)
Fortunately that wasn't too difficult either: 5+5=10, 10*10=100, ...you know where I'm going.

Sohail could be an interesting one to watch I think. Made a couple of mistakes but I think there's some potential to him, had some pretty good spots at times.

In case any one was wondering what were the best answers in the crudite round (R4), that were not given on the show,
the best ones are 7 ie CURATED, AZURITE, TRADUCE and DEUTZIA. Also several alt 8s including WRESTLES in R2, and
OUTLAWS as an alt in R11.
