SMEARED was in round 3, and I'm fairly convinced there's more too.

Round 1: Two words found in Oxford (but not in Collins/Scrabble) FOOTSURE and FORCEOUT. And you can put an S on the end of FORCEOUT for 9 !

No sorry Mauro, force out is two words in ODE3 so not valid.

I liked the way Heather went for a defensive last vowel after GODETIAS was in the first 8 letters in R13.
At least 4 ways to make 998 that I found in the 30s.
FUSTIAN as an alt to AUNTIES in R4 and lots of 8s of course for RETAINS+MO in R8.

ZANIEST in one of the early rounds.
MONSTERA / AMNIOTES (and many other 8's) in the ROMANISE round.

Yeah, was well impressed with that one. I got it well differently: ((((75 + 50) x 4) + 4) x 2) - 10.
BEDSORE in round 3, HAIRED in round 6 (my opponent beat me with it on my very first show all those years ago
), ENGRAINS/INGRAINS in round 7 and HEURIGE in round 9.
But very well done, Heather. Alma was a very tricky opponent and I'm glad you got through it OK.

Agreed. On a related note, I think there should be an item on Apterous for going above 1000 in a numbers solution. How about a Concorde (for breaking the sound barrier)?

I've been rooting for Heather but have to admit, I was a bit torn today. Alma gave a brilliant performance and it was such a shame she came up against someone in such good form.

Is it weird that after the first two rounds, and after getting two words I wouldn't expect non-apterous players to get, that I thought she might be James Nguyen?
