Another week of Countdown is about to commence, although, in a peculiar way, it's sort of split into 3 parts this week, as I'll explain, if you go further on......

So, Liam Shaw made it a clean sweep last week with 5 wins out of 5, can he continue for 3 more shows, to become octochamp #3

Right, here comes the tricky part, Wednesday-Friday's episodes will have Alistair McGowan in DC, and even more weirdly, Friday's episode will be a special episode, of which the details are in the General section. (I believe the reason for the split is because this was the day when the studio got flooded due to some roof problems......... )

But, for today and tomorrow, DC will be occupied by the former BBC royal correspondent, Jennie Bond, making her first appearance in there for nearly 4 and a half years.

Jack will be recapping later on.

I'm back from holiday so I can do today's if Jack can't.

But if I do today's then who does it next week? Am I just covering for Jack or is it my turn proper?

I'm probably overthinking this a little.

I've already written most of the recap so I might as well do it today. Then we can resume properly next week.

The reason for the disruption was that Susie's eye didn't clear up, got more painful and she gave up after the morning's two recordings and went home. That afternoon recordings were cancelled, not sure when the rest of this week was recorded.

Couldn't someone else who can read a dictionary stand in?

I asked why not Damian, not sure if it was considered, but they had to consult Channel 4 who apparently said cancel.
