Because our own Paul James became an octochamp yesterday, we have two new contestants today. And we won't have to wait that long for another apterite to have his chance, because our own Chris Marshall is going to have a shot today. Can he begin to replicate Paul's success?

Join James when the recap goes back to the U.K. later.

Zyzzyva ( the Scrabbler's anagrammer ) found AVULSING in R1, PLEBEIAN in R6 and ARCHLUTE in R8. Dad of all people saw UNMOVED in R7.

Jessica

PS Dad wanted to know if the person in the challenger's chair is related to ex London Scrabble League member Jonathan De Souza?

Unlikely, as Martin's surname is De SouSa, not De SouZa.

SERIATE in round 9 and EARNINGS in round 13.

Nicely done, Chris. Very impressive performance. ;) :) :D

I told Dad that but he didn't believe me! I wonder if that means anything ;)

Thanks.

I'd been sat with Martin all morning as I was just a stand-by in case there was an octochamp. I felt the final score was harsh on him but I was generally pleased with my first performance.
