Watching it now, wasn't he on it before?

Saw it, very close show with Chris unlucky to lose it - he still looked as cheery as ever though!

Exceedingly good game and as close as they come. Nice to see Chris on and so relaxed. If anything gets people looking like they are going to explode it is Mastermind. Really hope to see him in next round.

Wow. The second of last night's two episodes featured a Countdown series champ, a University Challenge team captain, and an Only Connect series finalist. (Oh, and three other people.)

Seems Chris C is a Victoria Wood fan. Looking forward to seeing him in the semis.

My Mastermind, with Huddersfield Town F.C. as the specialist subject, will be shown on Friday 6 December at 8pm on BBC Two. ;) :) :D  8-) :geek: :ugeek:

Unlucky there, James.

On a related note, with the pretentiously long questions that they have on Mastermind (often with single-word answers), does John Humphrys ever fuck up a question and waste loads of a contestant's time? It must also be quite easy to accidentally blurt out the answer when someone passes.

He probably has done, but he didn't do at my recording.

The only thing he cocked up was right at the beginning when he asked Andy his specialist subject before his occupation, so we had to redo that at the end. :)

While we're on Mastermind questions, do you know what the auditioning/recording schedule is like? Once you get accepted onto the show, is there enough time to revise your specialist subject before you film, or should you be ready to go before you apply? If you win, do you then get more study time, or do you have to turn up the next day with a new subject fully prepped?

You don't get asked any questions about your specialist subjects at the audition, just general knowledge, but they go through your 4 options, in case they've been used recently.

The recording schedule was prelims in July, semis in September and the final was in November, interestingly on the same day as the Countdown finals were being recorded.

Once you're accepted, you do have some time, but I only had 3 weeks, because I was actually a stand-by, as 2 people dropped out, so I got less time than the other contestants (I also didn't know I was a stand-by either.........).
