FIXTURES & RESULTS

PLACES REMAINING: 34

DATES: Monday 24 October 2011 - Sunday 22 January 2012.

CLOSED
To alternate with Spoilers (hooray!)

This will consist of as many weeks as it takes.

A maximum of 45 "active Apterous members" will be allowed to take part - YOU WILL BE ASSIGNED AT RANDOM TO AN EBU MEMBER.

YOUR COUNTRY MAY CHANGE FOR LONG AND BORING AND COMPLICATED REASONS.

Here's how it works...

The top 5 pro ranked entries will receive automatic qualification to the final.

The rest shall be randomly drawn into a semi final.
SEMI FINALS

Play the other semi finalists in a Standard 15 ONCE. The winner shall receive (what will mostly be) the margin of victory in points (because I'm the jury).
So Azerbaijan plays Armenia, Molodva..... etc.

There are 2 semi finals and the top 10 qualify.

GRAND FINAL

Same format as semi final.

E.G. Rhys Benjamin would receive 96 point if he beat Joe Bloggs by 96-0 and the jury agrees.

So, any questions? Sign-ups will take place until 23 October. Pro Ranks as of then/when you sign up.

Might as well. In.
Q: How do 15 people play in the final?

No, 25 play in the final. I'm guessing you don't watch Eurovision - it's based on that.

I do, but got confused. It's an odd number, though...

I'm interested in joining, but need to fully subscribe first... been meaning to for a while but haven't got around to it yet. I'd hope to do it in the next couple of weeks anyway.
If this means I'm barred, that's fine, but if not I hope it doesn't over-complicate things for you!

I'm in but only if the voting is split between the audience vote and the judging panel, otherwise it'd just be unfair.

I actually prefer the alternative vote system. It would be interesting if it could be introduced in this "new" Eurovision.

I thought about doing something like this, but I've had an idea. See first post... Oh, and I'm guessing you'll be in then.

Nah, i'm only winding you up. Can I be the act during the interval before the voting kicks off?

It's not EXACTLY like Eurovision.... You lot aren't voting for each other!

I'm giving my 12 points to James Robinson, as he is the closest entrant to me geographically, but obviously expect James to give 12 points to me in return.

How about each player plays one 15 rounder game (of any variant) and all other finalists look at the games and decide who to give their points too?

To be faithful to the eurovision theme, I think it's important that each player has earned the right to represent each country. I'll get the ball rolling and agree to host the Finnish national aptovision contest. Would all those who wish to represent Finland please let me know, and we'll find out who gets to finnish first.

EVEN MORE IMPORTANT: Tell me if your Pro Rank changes significantly, especially if ANDY WILSON overtakes DAN ABREY.
DATES: Monday 24 October 2011 - Sunday 22 January 2012.
Eh, I don't think Andy is interested in playing in this tourney.

Rhys,

I'm a little confused about the format of this tournament. Can you please confirm which games currently need to be played, and what is the deadline?

Many thanks.

Basically, I PM'ed you if you needed to play a game, but I'll post them here too.

Dan Abrey v Chris Marshall
(Georgia v Moldova)

James Bradley v Kieran Bray
(Hungary v Sweden)

I know it might seem a bit unnecessary but it's all about which position you play in and so the fixture computer for the final won't be as harsh to you.

Georgia 70 -74 Moldova

Moldova clinched the probably meaningless semi final with a 29.6 second conundrum coming from 24 behind in a shock victory.
