Ah you brits will never pronounce it correctly. That's how the foreigners(to Vietnam) pronounce it, because they simply cannot pronounce it like the viets.
Or is it kinda like this (or something)?: New-ng-en (New as in "not old", ng as in the end of the word pong and en as in the start of the word enter - total guess!)

10 is a really awkward number of entrants. I'll have to devise something to make a rounder number of contestants. Perhaps the lowest two scorers in the Duel don't progress to the knockout?

Or see if 1 more can join, and join yourself. 12 is much easier to work with.

Not sure if you did this already, but you might get a few more if you aptomail people from the 17 And Under category on ProRanks.

I've aptomailed most of the active Tots on ProRanks, so hopefully I'll either have 12 entrants for a round robin final or 16 entrants for a straight knockout.

Go for it - you just have to say how you think you'd pronounce it and then let everyone critique your efforts.
I would've said "nwin" but that's only because I watch a lot of poker.

OK, so there will be a 15-round Duel entry to this tournament on Saturday 30th April. All people wanting to enter this tournament will have to do this Duel.

I still need at least 1 more entrant for this. I haven't had a reply from those I aptomailed annoyingly, so I'm not sure how I'm going to get one more entrant.

No. Perhaps Charlie could temporarily bring the tourney owl back in, or failing that you could use a randomizer to work out where we could go. Or I could just accept that I'll have to pull out.

i dont know what id rather do now tbh...! not do the tournament, or not do the duel and be ranked as the lowest seed... kai, how are the numbers? if i pulled out, would the numbers be easier to work with, or harder? if they'd be easier, i'll pull out (theres loads more tournaments to do) but if it'd be harder then i will probably stay in.

That's true! I mean, even though the bots are computers, they aren't 18 years old yet! Most are about 2! So, does that mean we'd have to play bots instead of people or something?

I dunno... Let's see what Kai thinks about it, he is the Organizer after all.
Well, yeah, obviously we wouldn't play Apterous Prune and probably not Apterous Nude (but definitely not Apterous Prune; it'd be unfair then, seeing as Prune incredibley occasionally gets anything).

I have 10 confirmed entrants; Giles Hutchings did the Duel but hasn't entered the tournament, whereas Joe Denniss entered the tournament but didn't do the Duel. I'm waiting for a reply from them, but for now the seeds list is:

1 Kai Laddiman
2 Eoin Monaghan
3 James Nguyen
4 Rob Foster
5 Oliver Garner
6 Joseph Krol
7 Thomas Carey
(8 Giles Hutchings)
9 James Bradley
10 Sophie Krol
11 Rhys Benjamin

I'm going to give Joe the rounds (and 30 seconds to do each) to see where he seeds. Then the top seed ( ) will get a bye and 2nd will play 11th, 3rd will play 10th etc. The 6 remaining will then play 1st vs 6th, 2nd vs 5th and 3rd vs 4th. The final will be a round robin; if no-one wins both games, the winner will be decided on points.

Thanks for your patience everyone :)

So basically (because the 2nd seed will probably beat 11th, 3rd will probably beat 10th and 4th will probably beat 9th), 1st (definitely), 2nd (likely), 3rd (probably) and 4th (I presume) seeds will actually have a chance of winning, and maybe not the other seeds? I guess that's not really so unfair, as the lower seeds aren't quite as good as the higher seeds... ;)

1. Can we start playing the games yet or not?
2. Are they normal 15 rounders?

Kai,
Me and Rob played 2 games and we had both won 1. We played our 3rd game, which of course was crucial, and just when we were on a crucial conundrum, it crashed. We went back to Apterous then found our 3rd, almost-finished and crucial game hadn't been saved - it wasn't in our challenges. I looked on the table thing and it said Rob Foster | Sophie Krol | Unplayed, so we don't think it's saved our first 2 games either! Do we have to play all the games again or can we maybe just play a conundrum attack against each other - or some kind of standard game with a conundrum at the end - and the last, say, conundrum can replace the crucial one that I told you about on the second line of this post?
Thanks,
Sophie (also on behalf of Rob Foster).

Oh right, maybe they just take a while to load onto it then. But still. That last game was crucial and so was the conundrum then CRASH and its gone!!

In my opinion, the only fair way out of this is to just replay a single conundrum- if neither of us gets it, Sophie wins 2-1 as she was ahead on points. Not sure if this is an "official" way of conducting the tournament though- if this isn't recognised by the tourney system I'd be happy to replay the last game, although it's not very fair. Any thoughts?

Yeah...I think it's a good idea personally, but as you said, it won't be official... Let's see what everyone else thinks...and Kai will need to confirm what we should do.
