Guys,

I'm reading the application form atm. Could someone who's applied/appeared tell me what the difference is between "Full Name" and "Preferred name"?

I've not applied or appeared, but it looks like they want to know (a) what your actual name is, and (b) what you want your nameplate to say. So (for example) if your name's Charles Reams but everyone calls you Charlie then there'd be a difference.

What I don't understand is why it asks for your date of birth and age. Is it some sort of pre-screening arithmetic test, where if your maths skills are so poor that you get your own age wrong then you're automatically rejected?

Are you talking about the application form for going on Countdown?

I agree with Graeme Cole...
I have not applied or anything, but I expect that it would mean:
Full name: What your full and real name is
Preferred name: What you prefer to be called (although if you just like being called Rhys then if I were you, I would just put Rhys) and, I think, what name you want your nameplate to have on.

Hope this helps (even though I am not 100%, but this is what I assume) .

Yep, same as "preferred name" on any form. A name you prefer. Joe for Joseph, Chris for Christopher. The list goes on.

Edit - Sorry, I just got Rhys Benjamin and Joseph Krol mixed up. But I blame Dan Abrey for writing "Joe for Joseph".

Edit 2 - I also blame Sophie Krol for replying to this thread. As the Krol siblings only talk to each other over the internet, and Sophie had replied, I got it in my head that Joseph must have posted.

Joseph doesn't prefer Joe. But whatever. And Dan for Daniel. And Soph for Sophie. etc.
