Like cinema world, but without the 'ma', for obvious reasons, I'd hope.

Cine as in cine-camera, or indeed cinema.

Some interesting answers. I would say it like "sinner-world", which from the comments seems to be what other people are saying, but no-one's actually voted for it.

Only Corby has explicitly agreed with me (as long as sinna = sinner, which it surely does), and Raccoon basically has because surely everyone pronounces "cinema" "sinner-ma", and Jono has also basically agreed, but:

But don't people say "sinny-camera"? Surely you're not saying you say "sinny-ma"?

But anyway, most people I've heard mention it (which isn't a great number actually) have said "sinny-world" and when I ask why it's because "it's like cine-camera" (two people have said that - one possibly influenced by the other). What? So when people see "Cineworld", which is the name of a place where you go the the cinema, people automatically think of some stone-age technology that no-one below retirement age has actually ever come across, rather than the far more commonly enocountered cinemas when deciding how to pronounce it???

And recently I've heard it call itself "sinny-world" in the trailer bit of films, but this is only relatively recently so surely can't have affected people's prevous decisions.

My pronunciation of cinema is somewhere between sinny and sineh, definitely not sinna.

I can't remember ever calling it the cinema anyway, it's always been "the pictures". But I would say Sinny-world, as in cine camera.

I pronounce it 'Odeon' because there isn't a Cineworld for miles around here. Or, like Jim says, the pictures, flicks, movies, etc. If I were it would be sinny, and cinema's closer to sinnymuh.

But, like you said - back atcha - why?

Sinny-world for me too. My logic is in cinema the ma pronunciation part can merge somewhat with the preceding bit of the word - so it gets cut off in cinema but Cineworld it is essentially two words in that sense. Dunno if that's right or not, just the way I see it.

You pronounce it: sinni-world or sinny-world (pronoucing those both the same way).
I think it may be because sinni/sinny is short for cinema so it really means 'Cinema World'. I am not sure, but that is an educated guess.
Hope this helps. ;)
