would like to say thanks to Jason for being a great host, and thanks to the people who were able to watch.

Another good quality recap :D . Its fair to say that this was the tightest COOT match of this series but well done to both Matts for putting on quite a spectacle ;) . Matthew Green could be a dark horse for the plate competition mind you :)

Is the Plate competition just a little play-off to gain some pride or is it to gain a spot in the later rounds?

It's simply a separate competition for all the people who are knocked out in the Prelimary and quarter finals. No, it does not enable anyone to get back into the main competition.

(That's as I understand it)

Don't know if they were meant to be tongue-in-cheek offerings (if so, sorry), but CARTIER and PARISHED aren't allowed...

Also Howard I think Jono said it's just people who get knocked out in the preliminaries and in the first round proper (i.e. last 16) who go into the Plate. That may be wrong though (or he might have changed his mind!)

Anyway good work guys

Just to clear up.. the plate is for players who are knocked out in the preliminary round (i.e. this one) and the last 16. It doesn't get you back into the main tournament (it's not a double knockout tournament) but it does give those who are unfortunate to show what they're really made of.

Cheers for the recap everyone.

Wait, if the plate is 'just a little play-off to gain some pride', then what's COOT? :P

Thanks Julian. That is, of course, what I'd meant to imply. I just hadn't counted properly  I mistakenly called the last 16 the quarter finals.

Good game - I've enjoyed playing that over my lunch break. One statistical oddity from the selection: 40 vowels chosen in the eleven rounds - not one "0" :o

I noticed that there was no O's but it was an entirely random selection by CountGen so it is strange no O's came out all match :?

There is a correct solution for this round:
(100−8)×8+5−50−25
which makes the maximum for the game 122

It's possible that your browser still has the old (broken) version cached. Try generating some more rounds and see if there are any O's.

Erm... that post by Jason was weeks ago, as the bug was being discovered. He has hosted many O-filled games since then.
