Can anyone tell us when the quarter-finals of this series are? Cheers

Wow, after my exams! Was expecting to miss them as I've missed the last four series. Great news, cheers Damian.

So let's say, hypothetically, that the series winner didn't want the dictionaries and would rather have a cash equivalent.. what value could you realistically put on the dictionaries? They retail at £4k but thats nowhere near realistic.
I guess it would be the price C4 pays Oxford to get them. But they might have a deal where they have to buy a certain quantity - maybe twenty over the course of ten years, say.
Any idea? My guess is about £1800.

That's exactly why I threw my semi-final against Conor, except I wanted to get my hands on one of those fabulous glass trophies. When I realised they gave them to the finalists as well I was gutted
Best of luck to all the c4cers who are participating, should be some cracking matches to come.

They would still be classified as limited print, Jono. I am working in a specialist reference library and we buy in antiquarian books (some not more than 30 years old) that cost an absolute packet.

Is it £1000 cash? Imagine the pressure on a semi-final crucial conundrum

Not cash no, it's holiday vouchers *subject to terms and conditions*
* Vouchers only valid when a minimum of 8 people travel, flying first class, staying in 4 star plus accommodation with full board, booking for at least 21 nights, between the months of November to January*

It used to be £500 book tokens, didn't it?

Something like that yes. Not sure book tokens are as popular now as they used to be though.
I think people prefer Bank Of England tokens.

So it is actually £1k in cold hard cash?

Wow.
Shame it's come a series too late for Jeffrey, he deserved that £1k

If I was a runner up, I would've rather liked book tokens. If I got money, it would've go on my credit card and then I would probably brought books with it anyway

. I tend to buy quite a few poker, origami and puzzle books.

Okay - thats fine. If you get to the finals and lose, we'll give you book tokens.
