Who does Google say you are?

Post by Lesley Hines »

Having been inspired to google my name (actually, first I was inspired to google Charlie's, and found some (allegedly) ginger bloke who's pretty good at Countdown, but doesn't like homophobia, the git), I found this pillar of society.

Who do YOU get if you google yours?

Last time I googled mine (using quotes around the full name), most of the hits were for people with surname Howard, who lived in Somerset, either in England or USA. A lot of other hits too, and a surprisingly large number referring to me, one of which related to a job I was doing in the early 1970s. A couple referred to the only other Howard Somerset I have ever heard of, also lives in Cheshire, but to the best of our knowledge, we are not related.

Haha, it's got Drew Carey in it as well !!

Actually, what the hell is it all about?! Is it some spoof page based on an American Radio Show or something? I need to know now!

Maybe Jason Larsen can elucidate?

(Wow, there's a sentence I never thought I'd say.)

There's a 'famous' Matthew Morrison that tends to take up all the search results.

Matthew Morrison Interview – “I'm Not Gay” say Morrison on ELLE.com
Sounds like an interview I'd give eh? Apparently "Matthew Morrison gets around" (tick) and "has moves to make Timberlake blush" (tick).

There's also some gimp who's a sportscaster, but, rather joyfully, he actually comes 3rd in the list of MMs under the above actor, and then my own web design site 8-)

Also - Five Sexual Partners? You've Blown Your Chance With Matthew Morrison. Don't touch me you sluts.

Maybe we should all do an image google search on our full name, and change our avi to the first pic that comes up. I remember doing that on another forum a while back, but it was stopped when someone came up with a porn pic.

Just based on a UK search.

Definitely not me - I can barely draw a stick person!

Surprisingly, a real mention of me makes it to 8th on the list - much higher than I'd have expected.

A worldwide search reveals Karen Pearson Photography - much more glamorous than my real business!

There's an Australian car dealer who provides various BMW images, but I like this one

That's me, playing for Morecambe there. I'm captain now of course.

I'm pretty sure I remember me being at Man City on one of the early PC versions of Championship Manager though I don't think I ever signed myself so don't know if I was any good or not.

Apparently, I'm a character in a Robert Redford movie. I appear to have fans.

I'm not very savvy at posting images but a Dinos Sfyris Google Image search yields mostly Krypton Factor pics and Apterous stuff. But amusingly the 2nd listed picture is one of Captain Jean Luc Picard!

I'm confused. I might be an ex-England rugby player. Or a dead football commentator. Or a dead Irish author. Or a prisoner on Death Row in Kentucky. Or even a Presidential hopeful. I'm really not sure who I am, or if I'm even alive.

Unsurprisingly there are loads of James Robinsons.

There's the dye company now called Vivimed.

There's the James G. Robinson, who is a film producer, who had a tiff with Lindsay Lohan a while ago.

There's the media editor of The Observer newspaper.

And all these guys that Wikipedia mentions:

Well, if I am/he is on Death Row, I/he'll need a good solicitor. That might be me. Or him.

1st and 2nd images on my search. Both of the same guy, a former ballad singer now a publican in Boston.
I was surprised though to find an old school photograph (from 1930) with my dad in it at no. 5.
