So C4C voted unanimously for AQUA, while our own Barbie girl (Quackle) replied with AUGITIC for 62, the only available bonus to take it 335-193 up. Can we get back into the game or are we just playing for pride? Over to you. Voting closes 23:59 on Wednesday.

For the sake of kicking off, 9L VIM leaves us BETN (not *terrible*...) and scores 17, which is pretty rubbish. There's also VINT which scores 16 and leaves us BEM.

There are probably heaps of silly words that I don't know that might be useful, though.

Might as well mention the straightforward JOB for 24, holding MINTEV. Maybe not a good move per se but it's useful to estimate the top-scoring play. Lowering tile turnover might be appealing here because we need to make time to catch up, but we also want to draw the blank. Tricky.

MI (E11d) scores 31 but doesn't turn over match and leaves mainly rubbish.

The very vanilla RAVINE (H10) gives us 39 and clears the decks somewhat.

Had to check this as I thought I might have played it on an US dictionary game on Wordscraper, but REMINT appears to be valid.

Played H10 down, it scores 33 and gets rid of quite a few of our tiles (for hoping to pick up blank) and leaves two highish value tiles. On the other hand, those two highish value tiles might not be easy to get rid of, and it opens up quite a few letter score bonus tiles.

You have no idea. (You have no A, deer.)

REMINT is my favourite so far.

VIBE for 20 at b1
IMHO REMINT leaves VB which is unlikely to yield a bonus whereas MNT is better.

You can see why my Apterous ranking is where it is...

Pretty horrible situation. VIM F6a for 21 looks the best option to me so I'll vote for that. Ideally you'd look to keep the M back for that OH-M spot but there's no nice move that does that. What's left is very consonant heavy. Playing (JO)B I don't know what we're hoping to pick up to get a bonus. Playing MI in the OHM spot just leaves us with a horrendous combination. We need to basically hoover up all the remaining goodies to have a hope. The line under END/JO looks productive for a nice combo with the S. Wonder if we can pick OIS from the bag...

PERMIT 14A for 18 to open up a second TWS square. Don't know about leaving BENV though.
