He's the best by so far it's not even funny. Although...
Probably not quite the spelling he intended.Jeff Stelling supposedly wrote:I'm paid to ... have a bit of crack with my friends

"Sports Broadcaster of the Year?" So Countdown is a sport now? Someone should tell Kirk.

At the TRIC (Television and Radio Industries Club) awards today at Grosvenor House
Jeff Stelling was a nominee in 2 categories:
Satellite/Digital TV Personality
Eamonn Holmes, Jeff Stelling, Joe Swash
and
Sports Presenter
Gabby Logan, Gary Lineker, Jeff Stelling
It will be over now but I don't know the outcome.

I think the spelling's fine. I remember using it when I was a kid in the North East and would have written it as 'crack':

If I used the word "craic" at home with trad types I'd get thrown out of the pub.Lucy Gowers wrote:Charlie Reams wrote:He's the best by so far it's not even funny. Although...

Re: Jeff Stelling accolade
I don't think 'Craic' is in the dictionary, oddly. To me that's the standard version, an Irish pub near me has it on their front door sign. The crack/craic confusion always makes me think of that Ali G sketch when he asked a Sinn Fein member if the violence in Irish was due to Ireland having a large-scale cocaine problem...

This is an extended interview with Jeff for the county magazine. Soccer Saturday for the most part, or jump to 8mins to start hearing about Countdown.
Oh, and if you thought he says "Fantastic!" a lot, count how many times Jeff says "you know".... never noticed it before..........

Well, you know, I think he's fantastic whether he's been taking performance enhancing substances or not. Anyone watching on Saturday? Missed most of it, but enjoyed Paul Merson repeating that he didn't want to be 'distrespectable for West Ham' moments before Jeff summed up Jody Craddock's goal for Wolves by adding that 'Fanny must be over the moon'. Tee hee.
Well done Jeff.
Well done Jeff.

Crack is the correct spelling; "craic" is a Celtic bastardization.Charlie Reams wrote:He's the best by so far it's not even funny. Although...

Edit: Made this point ages ago supporting some other poster - wish people would stop bringing up dead posts: surely, you have better things to do you miserable fucking cunts.
