Quackle replied with 10B IO for a modest 6 points, and leads 36-23. Back to you. Deadline is 23:59, 1 March.

I'm worse at scrabble than I am at countdown, so better ignore me.

My offering, which you can all ignore, is ERR at G7d. 14 points.

One possible alternative: ROK at C11a, but haven't got the required dictionary, so don't know if either of the words are valid. 17 points

any chance of turning on the board tile text, Charlie? I'm so used to playing Wordscraper I keep having to look up a diagram of the Scrabble board every time I look at this thread.

ROK and LOR are both valid, I can't see much else but then I'm also shit at Scrabble.

ROK is fine. I'd suggest OKE in the same place though as it leaves you nicer tiles to play with, and also creates LOO which might give us something to go on.

T think ROK is safer - the trouble with OKE is that if Quackle has an A, O or (especially)Y, it can score heavily in the next row down :| .

Is Quackle using sims to pick its move?

I have a couple of ideas here but I'll keep them to myself for the time being.

Yeah it's the Championship player.

Okay, is a virtual certainty then that Quackle has an IO front hook (B or G) otherwise that opening would be enough to disfavour that play and for it to prefer something like OI H7a. If it had a B it could score plenty with the WE-B hook. So I'm guessing a bonus prone leave that includes a G.

I'm going to throw out some moves which haven't been discussed yet:

RO(OF)IE E6d, 18 points - leaving EKQ
O(OF)IER E7d, 18 points - leaving EKQ
ROKIE(R) G3d, 12 points - leaving EQ
KORE A11a, 13 points - leaving EIQ

I did have ERR, but I like the look of ROOFIE.

At the risk of showing general Scrabble ignorance:

I contemplated LOOKER C9 for 20 points, leaving EIQ, although it's asking for trouble if Quackle has S on its rack.
I also contemplated exchanging EIKOQ, although that's probably because I'm used to playing OSPD2 Scrabble where QI was inadmissible.

Very tempted by ROKIER because of the QI setup on a very Q unfriendly board, as well as the extra turnover and setting up a triple we've a hooking letter to use.

But I'll go with (LO)OKER for the extra points.

ROKIER is my vote.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
