Countdown in London - Market Research

Ok, so because it's this or do some work, I figured I'd canvass opinion on a Countdown in London event.
For the time being I'm mostly just interested in numbers of people who would probably attend. Since this is probably the limiting factor in most decisions about a venue. I've added some semi-arbitrary pricing options, so you can say whether you'd come, and if you would, how much you'd be prepared to pay for the privilege.
I appreciate that asking this question with *no* details of the event at all is probably a bit much, but if you assume that it will be similar to other Co-events (not that I have high expectations, or anything), then that might be a reasonable place to base your opinions on. Ideally we'd find somewhere easily gettable to on the Tube. For instance I've found some places in Islington, which is a lively place itself, and is only about 10 minutes on the Tube from Central London.

I've always imagined a COLON to take place in the middle of Hyde Park or something. That would be proper jokes.

Haha, that's an awesome idea. Free, too. Might need a lot of paperweights, though.

Can we get the one person who voted "money is no object" to foot the bill for the whole thing please?

Oh, that was me - I assumed that if I organised it I'd get away with running off with all your dosh.
Although I suppose that implies that money
is an object. Hmm. Maybe if it's done by paypal?

I voted for the joke option btw. I probably mean the 2nd one though (<=£15)

Hang on, isn't No the joke option?

I thought <= £10 was the joke option

I voted £15, but if it was a choice between paying extra or it not going ahead at all, I'd be happy to pay more. You should so totally do this! Please.

I opted for the highest amount with a limit. But then, I'd be saving on hotel and petrol bills, so, like Jimmy, would be prepared to pay more if necessary.
A church hall somewhere shouldn't cost the earth, though, and I wouldn't want others put off by the price.
Good on you, Michael!

Getting to London seems easier than I expected (guess that makes sense) so yeah I would be interested in this as well.

^This.
Two very probables here in myself and Supee.
If it's to be a Saturday would prefer it after the end of the football season, and would definitely prefer a pub to a Church Hall.

Tempting, but can you move London a bit further north?
Actually, don't do that.

Venue request. Please find one which offers:
- pool table
- Guitar Hero machine
- Web design competition
Then I can have a chance of winning a game.

Now that's a euphemism. My sister used to police Islington, before she was seconded to Scotland Yard. I've heard the stories

No you wouldn't. Game on!

Michael, I'll ask around the London chess clubs to see how much hiring out their venues (church halls, upstairs of pubs etc) would cost.

That would be awesome, thanks. I've had a look around the googles and found a few promising places, but nothing can beat that sort of first-hand experience/knowledge.

I would like to vote for holding it in a church hall. Where do I put my cross?

In general, timing is more relavant to me than is money or location. I'd certainly want to come if the timing suited.

I'm devastatingly poor

Could possibly make it if I got one of those in advance cheapo trains or got a generous northy to give me a lift.

After your performance on the assault course yesterday, you should be able to jog down here.

With stand-up comedy a lot of pubs don't charge for the use of their "function" room, as they might not have been using it anyway and if people buy drinks it's all extra for them. Don't know if the same would apply here though.

Money isnt too much of a problem, just the day and time is. Have you any thoughts for dates?

Not yet, no. People will probably get about 2 months notice, and I'll be aiming to avoid any obviously bad dates, such as near Countdown series finals (speaking of which - anyone know when the recording for the series 62 finals are?).

If this doesn't go ahead I'll eat a raccoon and post you the bones.
