First big hitter of the series? Will he overturn Jan Parker? Will he score OVER 9000 points? I have no idea. But good luck.

"Oliver" bet that he won't "Garner" over 9000 points.

Come back Derek, I just can't do this :(

Going to record this one, as I'm out all day today. Can't wait to view it late this evening. Good luck Ollie!

Everyone seems to waiting to see if Oliver Garner will end the run of pentachamp Jan, but personally, I'm interested to see how much bias there is when he does his recap later on. (I should think little to no bias)

EDIT: Happy 1st anniversary to Jeff & Rachel's tenure on the show! ;) :) :D

Yes, 1 year of fantastic productions and pretty flawless presenting. Well done to both.

Well done for keeping your cool Ollie.

Great Conundrum spot in no time under pressure too.

Good man!

Well done Oliver. God, that was close. Super speed on the conundrum. Nice one.

Well done Oliver, and unlucky Jan as that Conundrum spot was lightning fast.
FWIW I saw it straight away but didn't think it was a word.

Yay. Congrats Oliver. :D A shame Jan had to run into you though.

Well done Oliver.
Very nice performance.
Smashing spot of the conundrum.

Well played Oliver and hard lines to Jan. Was surprised to see POUNCER wasn't allowed, as in "The Case of the Peckham Pouncer".

Good to see Jeff asked Brian Capron about his Grange Hill days too. 8-)

POUNCER was especially unlucky for Ollie, as I think it was in JimDic at the time. Great game and well done.

Yeah, I'd noticed it was a glaring addition back in August. Couldn't believe it that when I decided to check it up in the dictionary, it wasn't there.

Congratulations, Ollie! :D :D :D

Nail-biting stuff. I kept thinking towards the end "at least if Jan wins, she might be in the finals, so reducing the possibility of an all-male line up", but I was relieved when you got that conundrum. :)

I suppose it is vaguely possible that she could get in with 5 wins, IIRC Hamish did that in series 60.

Really looking forward to tomorrow's game.

In Series 60 and indeed Series 59, 3 wins was enough to come back for the finals. Series 61 was a different kettle of fish with 7 octochamps. Not quite sure if Series 62 will produce such dizzy heights, but I'd love to be proved wrong.

Had ECOTONE too but I thought OPERCULA was there in one round too - may have imagined it though. Well done, Oliver!

Brilliant spot. It was indeed all there.

Well played Oliver! That was a really tough opponent to have your debut against, but you coped with it well and the conundrum was excellent. Hope Jan makes it back for the finals, but for now best of luck with the rest of your run.

Phew, what a close one that was! The clock handle only moved a tiny fraction off the top! That must be one of the fastest of all time.

Jan was so unlucky with the first numbers. If she added the 4 to her 18 and multiplied that by the 45, she'd have 990 and then took the other 7 off, she'd have had the 983.

KRAAL & ALTAR in round 2, GENITORS in round 6, APOLUNE in round 12.

Well done Oli. That was a great conundrum spot under huge pressure. You made me too nervous concentrate on it.

It's a shame to lose Jan, but I think 5 wins is a pretty fair return for her ability. I hope its enough to get her to the finals.

Super play by my favourite fellow auditioner to appear in this series.

Well done.

Either it's the worst-judged joke ever or you are now entering Hypocrisy Central.

I got ECOTONE immediately, hardly surprising as you played it against me. The animal kingdom's equivalent of a border dispute, IIRC.

I also got ECOTONE, as Matt Shore spotted it (as ECOTONES) out of time in a filming break during one round in our match. I had never heard of it previously. Susie offered it to him as a 'late spot' when filming restarted, but he refused and said that Dictionary Corner were welcome to it. I said that I'd happily take credit for it, and they all told me to fuck off.
