Will Ryan Taylor (no relation! - does anyone agree that he looks slightly like Charlie - not just the hair?) become the latest octochamp today?
Watch this space!

Another day, another spoiler opened before James Robinson posted. Tut tut.

Jack Hurst appears to associate him more with another Podcastian
member.

The first time I saw Ryan I thought he looked like Jono.

Does it matter if I don't start a spoiler thread, Davy?
Anyway, good luck to Ryan. A win with a score of around 80 will guarantee his place at the finals, which begin recording tomorrow, I believe. So wish I was going! DAMN
Amanda Lamb makes her DC debut today. Not quite sure what to expect from her, except some holiday tips presumably.
My maths suggests that assuming Ryan wins today, there'll be 17 shows left before the quarters, giving us enough time for 2 more octos, which means that the lowest placed octo might be eliminated! What a terrible thought!
But, let's not get ahead of ourselves, Ryan isn't an octo yet, but in around 3 hours time he might be.

Actually, a win with a score of 7 will guarantee his place at the finals. No idea where you get 80 from.

Haha, just imagine it. His opponent blanks every round and scores 0. Ryan is nervous as fuck and blanks every round too but manages to get RETAINS in a round containing NOTARISES. He wins 7-0 and makes the finals.

Does it though - I haven't looked at the leaderboard but from the rest of James's post I think he's taking into account the fact that there is still time for 2 more octos - hence Ryan needs to overtake the current no.6, not just no.8.
Edit: Nope, just looked. Any win (even with a score of -13) should do it, shouldn't it?

Even better. a win with a score of 6 gets him in, as he's got a better maximum score than Steve Wood.

Yes, you're right. I hadn't even noticed that Steve Wood's total after eight games is lower than Ryan's after seven - I was just going by the number of points he needs to overtake Jeffrey.

I think I added an extra 0 to the statement. I seemed to think that he was still quite a bit behind Steve & Jeffrey. How wrong I was!

I did say in my

As I am Thursday's contestant, and they were all recorded on the same day, I won't give anything away- but it was bloody raining all day in Manchester so don't know what Ms Lamb is on about saying it was "Sunny" - D'oh!

Time's up and Damian Eadie was the only person to get it; he solved it in 60.0 seconds and receives 3 points.

Damn. When the time ran out on the conundrum I thought, oh good, we'll get to see whether the audience today were mainly pensioners (as Nick Gates averred) or students (as Damian rebutted). But it wasn't to be.
Anyway, Vic seemed to be a thoroughly decent chap (despite being useless at impersonations). Congratulations to Ryan on becoming no. 4 seed in your most relaxed game yet.
(Oh, and BARONET to equal DC in round 1, and DOPIEST in round 12.)

A stinker of a conundrum that I missed in the studio, but, funnily:
http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?ga ... 58#r726358 (look who it was against too!)
Well done Ryan on octoing out. Solid performances with yet another century score.
Also, is it raining in Manchester now? If it is then since Amanda said it's always sunny some viewers would be a tad confused!
Edit: Did anyone else notice Jeff saying how Ryan had notched up 624 points? Dunno if I misheard this but this was clearly wrong.

His name is Ryan Vickers, not Vic Lennard.
Are you this guy?

I didn't notice at the time but you're right, Jeff did say that for some reason. However, someone obviously redid the sums during the show because 624 + 103 would have put him only at no. 5 seed, not 4 as Jeff correctly mentioned at the end.

Yes she did. I noted that down (mentally) as an error when in the studio. Thought they might edit it out but I suppose it's not that big a deal.

Congratulations, Ryan, on becoming an octochamp. Look forward to seeing you in the finals. Shame you missed so many conundrums (the one you did get was the only one I got too!) as this could be your downfall in the finals. Good luck!

Congratulations, Ryan, on your octochampdom!
(Having started the thread, and intending watching it as transmitted for a change, a furniture delivery came, so I had to deal with that, and then Virgin Media Catch Up effed up.)
Good luck in the finals this week, Ryan (sorry I can't be there

), although Innis will be difficult for anyone to beat.
