Corby vs Dent

A solid effort from Jon Corby, who managed a max in each and every round out there. His best spot was “number” in round 6. Anthrax was also a pretty decent word to produce under an immense onslaught of Corb.

Gillies vs Norman

Smashing stuff from the combative Scottish maestro. Ravioli was his best offering and Luke simply could not match the wholesome words produced by the Gilly.

Meier vs Seasmith

Nominated by Ben Hunter, this game went one way. And then it went the other. High drama occurred when neither player could spoit the conundrums and the game went into serious overtime. Eventually the game was won in fine style, when Dan strummed home.

Wallace vs CF

This game was superb. Michael Wallace, noted for scoring hundreds with nonchalant ease produced a stunning letters performance. And when he could not find the max, which was only once throughout the letters rounds, CF stepped up with the excellent “cojones.”

Morrison vs Garner

Nominated by Julie Taylor this game saw a real shock in the speed 9 tournament as the highly promising Matt Morrison produced a conisistent display and left major talent Oliver Garner out of reach by the conundrum, which he took for consolation purposes.

Thanks for the mention. I was particularly miffed that two of the three numbers came out tricky (compare them with the ones in our next game, where I hit a PB with a much worse performance).

Corby's game was fucking awesome.
But I've still gone for Seasmith-Meier in that a close game is more exciting to me than a max romp.
Though it was a very torn decision, for sure.

So that long standing record I broke of Charlie's didn't make it on here? Hmph.

Corby's game kinda stands alone this week - has to be a walkover.

I voted for Seasmith's game because both got a nine and both on a century for a crucial conundrum. Then it took 4 conundrums to separate them. Awesome tension. Losing with a 9 and over 100 points doesn't happen too often, let alone with several conundrums to decide the victor.
