I wondered where Craig was yesterday when Liverpool lost.

I'm probably not going to give him a taste of his own medicine and tell him when he loses that he'll never be a good Scrabble player and that he really needs to stop being deluded by the media coverage. That's mainly because he looks like he's going to mop the floor with David Webb though. Good work Craig, well done.

He was the guy who threw the beach ball onto the pitch!

He's never going to live that down. Bet he's sick as a parrot. ;)

Thanks and yea I did have time to see Match of the Day (well the first 30-40 minutes) twice. The beach ball incident was still great on second viewing. Kinda makes it better the way Sunderland screwed up a hatful of chances so that ended up being the only goal.

I played through the three games, never having shown much interest in Scrabble before. I've always thought of Craig as the best Countdowner, as he was so good while so obviously playing within himself. But this really brought it home to me how hard it must be to "forget" half your vocabulary for Countdown, when Scrabble has to be the priority.

Yes, that is remarkably good. I didn't spot any egregious mistakes, and it wasn't even patronising towards the competitors. Good work, Timesians.

Congratulations Craig.

It was good that your achievement got an acknowledgment from Sarah Kennedy on Radio 2 this morning.

Yes there's a fair bit of attention from the BBC, I suppose it ties in with the documentary coming up in December.

I'd like to congratulate you on the win too Craig. I was watching online in game 3 play by play, discussing with a few scrabblers on msn tactics. Well done. Enjoy the £1500.

Craig's on 5Live right now, on iPlayer if you can cope with the excitement of reliving the interview :)

It's worth noting Craig is only the second person to have won both a Countdown final and the NSC final, and the only person to do it in that order (kudos for anyone who figures out who did it the other way around... and when). Plenty of people have won one but finished 2nd in the other though.

I'm tempted to reply to this as a nice balancing act to you getting my question earlier today. But, I have spent a lot of time on the Wiki, so not sure whether I know the answer honestly or just through looking on there, so better let somebody else have a go.

Mark Nyman?

Right, well since it seems nobody else is going to answer this, I'll go ahead. It is Joyce Cansfield, as Mark Nyman never actually won a Countdown series (although he was runner up of one), but a Championship of Champions.
