Numbers Attack Tournament - Round 3

Cheers to everyone who got their games done in time; 4 games went to adjudication:-
Bob de Caux forfeited against Rich Priest.
Stitcher and Gough didn't play or contact me in any way, so have been given a 0-0 draw.
Jay Murphy remains AWOL, so forfeits against Howard.
Jeffrey remains buried under a mound of fresher girls, so Herb is awarded the win.
Current standings and the draw for the next round can be found
here. Please get them played by 11pm on Sunday 19 October 2009.
Eight players remain undefeated in each division, with Innis Carson and Matt Morrison as current spread leaders in the respective divisions. It's getting hot in here! Some scorching fixtures this week include Carson-Garner, Hurst-Sfyris and Taylor-Morrison. In fact it'd be cool if people could post their scheduled times here, so that people (including me) can tune in and watch.
As usual, feel free to post results in here, but it's not necessary as long as you accept the blue Tournament game as offered. Good luck!

There could only be one winner

And it wasn't me
Seriously though, great game.

Really good game Oliver, could well be one of the best of the tournament so far. Sorry again about the cut-out in one of the early rounds, that probably didn't help your focus much. Unlucky, and very well played.

Anyone know how I can contact Reuben Kay? He doesn't seem to be listed in the member directory (unless he has a pseudonym). I want to arrange our match.

Henry Meier 154-144 Lee Simmonds
A good game, very close, with neither of us excelling at six small. Could have gone either way, well played Lee.

Richard Priest 155-161 Nick Wainwright
I had Nick in trouble early on, but I knew he was capable of coming back and so it proved
In desperation I tried 4 large on my last selection, which to my surprise helped cut the deficit, but Nick shrewdly picked 1 large in the last round instead of continuing the 6-small tactics which had put him into the lead, and he was a worthy winner.

No reply yet to my PM on Monday to Matt Morrison. He's not been online since Saturday according to his profile.
My first 2 tourney games were very last minute too - must be jinxed!

Only 9 games played of 32 and it's Thursday. I won't be chasing people to play their games, so sort yourselves out by Sunday night please.

Thanks for letting me know, Charlie. The message has now left my outbox at least.
I'm not particularly busy this weekend - still recovering from a very busy previous week

- so should be able to fit it in.

I PM'd Jeffrey on Tuesday morning to arrange a time for our game and he hasn't replied, although he picked up the PM later that day. More I cannot do...

Lloyd Pettet 127-164 Clive Brooker
I fell apart after crossing the finishing line. Better that way round I suppose. I thought Lloyd would switch to 4 large earlier, but I don't think he was quite on his game.

Dinos Sfyris 171 - 146 Jack Hurst A surprising result!
I trailed by 2 points for most of the game before I lucked out on rounds 16-19 and finished with a healthy lead. Cheers for the game Jack

Very well played Dinos, your superior 6 small skills began to shine through towards the end of the game, whereas on the 4 larges we stayed pretty evenly matched throughout.

I PMed James Hall on Monday but so far it's still in my outbox. I did a search on Apterous and I think his last appearance on that was 10th October. Maybe he's more of a weekend person, but that's why we've not played so far.

The blue game did not appear Charlie. Nothing very spectacular in this game really.

Just don't reply to them with YW though, or someone might think you're calling them a wanker.

Sorry, haven't been able to contact Stitcher at all. Should hopefully do so by the weekend, but I haven't seen him on apterous for a long time now.

Well, I've got Jimmy this round and he's not been on apterous or here for about two weeks, so I doubt I'll be getting a game

We played the proper tournament game, so I don't need to post this ... but you'll have to excuse me for showing off!
Matthew Tassier 200 - 150 Sarah White
I've been after a max numbers game for AGES.

A good tight contest settled by a crucial conundrum. My first victory and it had to be settled on a conundrum!

Still nothing and I don't think I'll be on Apterous again tonight so it's all about tomorrow.

DIV A - Ben Wilson 130 - 147 James Hurrell
Some very tricky selections with a battle of 6 small numbers and a closely fought contest with Ben taking the early advantage with a 13 point lead after R7 that I then turned into a 17 point lead by R15 with 3 '6 small' solutions.
Well played Ben.

I played a bit crap but Jim would probs have won anyway.

Michael Wallace 162 - 138 David O'Donnell
Quite pleased with how a played for once, although I was lucky at how the 4 larges panned out - I suspect there is a rather large difficulty range in which David would thrash me, but most of them were either too easy or too hard.

James Hall 123 - 109 Gevin Chapwell
Pretty low scoring but I found some of those games pretty tough! James certainly played well.
Edit - Analysing my own game, I misclicked on round 10 which would have given me an extra 10, and I could have had an extra 5 and taken 5 off him if I'd realised I'd actually got 505 in round 15. But James had his own misclicks and the better player won.

Thought I'd managed to tie Jeffrey down (wha-hey) on Friday, but he's been unable to get onto Apterous - something to do with Java-related problems. So our third-round game remained unplayed by the deadline, sorry.
