The things people will do to get first post...

Any chance Paul might be wearing a shirt that's been ironed?

FARTING as an immature equaller in Round 2.

By the way, I'm not sure Rachel's really pulling off the Liquorice Allsort look today.

Excellent last conundrum before the summer break - even if I did get stuck at DIMSUMMER!

I got 129, didn't spot EXEUNTED.

I think Paul's got just enough time to win 8 before Chris Davies starts, wonder if he will?

I was chuffed with EXEUNTED - three Es; that word can't come out often. I got 131 but missed HESITANT, a good spot Junaid.

I got 132, missed EXEUNTED (was quite pleased with DETENUE) but had METAZOAN.

I'd be a little surprised. He's just an average player who happens to have won four. He may win another four, but if he does I think he might set the opposite record to the one Andrew Hulme has just set.

I wouldn't call him average - he's managed a few spots that an 'average' player wouldn't, he's just let down by ludicrous inconsistency (although that does seem to balance out to 'average'). That said, I think I'd be surprised if he manages to avoid coming across someone who manages to beat him before hi s8 shows are up, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

When Beryl got SPIRALS I was convinced she was going to end his run, and if she hadn't blanked out on both the subsequent numbers games, she'd have held on. But then I though Carol Warren was going to beat him, too. I'd be amazed if he he wins eight, but it would be pretty cool if he did.

last numbers alternative
100-7+7 = 86 * 8 = 688

Enjoy the summer break.

An opportunity for those who love their 'Countdown Fix' to revisit some of the last month's programmes on 40D.

Don't you mean 100-7-7 = 86 or 100-(7+7) = 86. That might make slightly more sense.

Another alternative is:

100 - 2 = 98

98 x 7 = 686

8 - 7 + 1 = 2

686 + 2 = 688

I spotted METAZOAN and EXEUNTED (don't think I would've risked exeunted though). Surprised Paul's managed four in a row but he does come up with some great spots.

Can't wait for Chris! :D

Grrr was pleased with METAZOA but didn't know you could stick the N on. Likewise I didn't put the -ED on EXEUNT as it sounded nonsensical. See you in 4 weeks Coontdoon. At least now I might get a chance to do well on *gasp* resits :(

Paul's an interesting player, in the sense that he makes a lot of amazing spots (usually 'everyday' words with unusual letter combinations) but also misses some really easy ones. He's looked like losing all 4 games at some point - Carol especially looked a likely winner.

Whoops! silly me I left out the brackets - yep I meant 100-(7+7) = 86
Thanks so much for pointing out the error and clearing up the confusion for every one.
