Well, I wonder is Innis is going to live up to all the hype I've heard about him. Unfortunately, I missed the second half of this day's recordings, so I have no idea about the result.

Let's see if Innis is the real deal, or if he's going to be f-INNIS-hed by the end of the day.

I apologise in advance for that dreadful pun there, especially to Innis, who I believe is on this forum too.

No disrespect to Clive as he is a good player, but I have no doubt that Innis will win this and go on to win the 8.

Clive's really good, too bad he had to come up against Carson in his second game.

Virtually every game I watch has 9s in it (conundrum not included). Just got back from my walk out and straight off OUTSIDERS comes out. The Countdown Gods hate me.

You'll have to give me some kind of context Craig - were 9s much harder to come by in your days?

The max games that Craig had available to him were very low scoring compared to the average.

That was meant to be (50x10)+100-(9+4-1).

R14- 50*10+100-9-4+1. :)

50*10 = 500
100-(9+4-1) = 88

Insane numbers miss. Maybe 9, 4 and 1 don't look as though they make 12 when the studio lights are beating down.

I only had three 9s come up in my 11 games, 2 in my octochamp run. Nine letter words were probably my strongest area, due to lack of corruption from Scrabble (ie recalling words which wouldn't be allowed in Countdown) and spending way too much time doing conundrum attacks.

Anyway always nice to get that first game out of the way with a comfortable win & a century.

50 million times better than meeting him in my first!

Good last numbers game wasn't it. I spent most of the drive home trying to come to terms with that. Also explains my apparent lack of enthusiasm at the end.

I'm going for a lie down now - will return later.

Very unlucky Clive that you came up against Innis, otherwise I think you would of had a nice wee run, excellent numbers by the way, well impressed

Good darts lads, very enjoyable episode

Lovely game! I'd been looking forward to today ever since Innis confirmed his transmission date and for a first game, that was a pretty damn good statement of intent. I imagine once Innis has settled in, we could be on for some 120+ (130+?) scores in the next few days, he's certainly capable. Well done, mate!

And commiserations to Clive for having the misfortune to get the Carsonator second game up, but hey, one win's better than none!

Innis, congratulations, mate. Astounding win. I was trying to keep up with you. I only missed out on ROTAMER out of your good words you came up with. That's how I did the last numbers game and I thought you had done it that way too.

Stupid alternative to 2nd numbers, but this was how I actually did do it.

9 x 100 = 900

8 x 7 = 56

56 - 50 = 6

6 / 2 = 3

3 + 900 = 903

By the way, Innis, is that avatar of yours an actual silhouette of you, becuse it's quite an amazing resemblance if it is. Anyway, good luck, I hope you win another 7.

Yes, Im amazed how much Innis looks like his avatar, uncanny.

Shame to see Clive go, you seemed like a very nice guy. (I'm not sure if its any consolation being praised on your character by someone with a Fritzl avatar but still...)

In case anyone's wondering, I knew the moment Innis's name was mentioned at the studio that he was an eminent apteroid and what that probably meant for my chances. Congratulations on a fine performance today and especially for being so gracious in everything you did. For obvious reasons I can't wish you anything specific regarding your run on Countdown, so best wishes for the future will have to do.

I winced a bit this afternoon at missing MORALIST and PODGIEST, but rarely, if ever, do I spot everything I feel I should in a game, and the final score gave just enough respectability whilst avoiding any serious regret. Outside this forum I will be remembered for winning a game and getting a 9.

When the first numbers target came up, I immediately thought "why 2 9s when I want 2 7s, little realising that had I divided by the 2 7s I didn't have, that would have led me comfortably to the 49 x 13 solution. I just wish I could have done it.

The final numbers will no doubt give the experts on Digital Spy something to crow about. It was quite similar to the 327 round in one of Kai's CofC games which I once described as a sitter. So I guess I deserved it. TBH my nerve on the numbers games had almost completely gone and after the OUTSIDERS round I was even struggling to add 18 to each of our scores before Jeff called them.

Again, contratulations to you Innis. I know how much it meant to you.

Were this week's episodes not recorded in one day as is the norm? Just wondered how Rachel had managed to have her hair restyled between yesterday's game and today's.

Argh I had a 14 max game today, missing HIROLA and I knew the word too. Grrrr. I hate that.

Anyway, I had HALESOME as a DC beater in round 1 and I managed all the numbers which was nice. DIASTEMA for a lovely equaller in round 11. PONTINES^ is one I had to physically learn was not there. PONTINE is an adjective but TONTINE is a noun and so you can have TONTINES, or TINSTONE.

Good debut, Innis. I can't wait for tomorrow now.

Yeah, they were done in one day. When I went last week to the 2 days, the same thing happened. In the mornings, she had the straighter hair and for the afternoons, she had this new hairstyle, as you'll see when they're out in September.

They do it for her during the lunch break between the second and third shows- it doesn't actually take too long, they managed to pretty much complete it whilst I was just chatting to her in the make-up room when I recorded.

And for the record, didn't Rachel look stunning yesterday? Huge fan of that black dress... ;)

You've got that right, Jeffrey, just absolutely gorgeous is Rachel. She looks gorgeous in just about every dress she wears, never mind that black one she had on yesterday ;) :D ;) :D

I'd wondered about that, but surely that would mean her hair would have changed for Wednesday's show, not Thursday's? However, I think I recall Chris Corby telling me some time ago that on some studio days they do three shows in the afternoon and then two in the evening, rather than two in the morning and three in the afternoon, so I'm guessing that's what happened here.
