Videogame initial quiz

To quote Philip J. Fry, 'I'm good at videogames, and bad at everything else'. So in that spirit, I've rustled up a quick quiz on that subject. Simply identify which famous game series each series of initials/numbers refers to. Some are easier than others.
1. CS, TV, CJ, TC, VV
2. C, S, Z, T, V
3. GH, EH, AI, MH
4. 96, 120, 120, 242
5. LA, OOT, OOS, MC
6. 18, 25, 23, 39
7. SOT, WW, TTT,
8. JV, CR, JV, CR
9. F, AG, A, Q
10. RR, RR, RR, RR
11. S/C/B, C/T/C, T/T/M, C/T/P

Ok, so myself and CF have had a look at this, here's what we've got so far:
1. GTA (protagonists)
3. First zones in 16 bit sonics
5. Zelda games
7. PoP games
10. Ridge racer?
Good stuff.
Edit: just got 11. Starting Pokemon

You're right on 3 1/2 of them- a bit more detail is needed for your answer to question 5. Your answer to question 10 is incorrect but then again it is an absolute bitch of a question.

Yeah, wasn't really convinced by 10 since they do have sub-titles. All I could add to 5 is what they all stand for, but your phrasing indicates there's more to it than that. What other one did we get wrong?

Sorry, my bad- didn't see your edit, you actually had 4 1/2.

5 seems to be partially ambiguous; I can only assume this is intentional.
But if it isn't, realise LA could equal Link's Awakening or Link's Adventure. Ocarina Of Time, Oracle Of Seasons, and Minish Cap?

If it's Link's Awakening, then it could be the portable Zelda games.
The others I have no idea about.

Well Link's Awakening was original game boy, and whilst OOS was GBC and MC was GBA, OOT was N64, so that doesn't quite work, unfortunately.

Maybe it's Oracle of Time though?
EDIT: Maybe not. I'll shut up.

No, no, keep talking.
Edit: my bad, it sahould've been OOA instead of OOT. Been ages since I last played it.

So it is just handheld ones? Or is there even more to it than that?

No, it was intended only to be handheld Zelda games. Sid's on the money with #8.

Guess at #10:
Last tracks in Mario Kart games? Rainbow Road x 4?

^ Spot on. Didn't think anyone was going to get that one.

2, 4, 6 and 9 are missing from what I can tell.

Ah I just figured out #2:

Cloud Strife (VII)
Squall Lionheart (VIII)
Zidane Tribal (IX)
Tidus (X)
Vaan (XII)

4. 96, 120, 120, 242
Answer below.
Number of "things to get" in Super Mario games
96 = Exits in Super Mario World
120 = Stars in SM64
120 = Shines in SM Sunshine
242 = Stars in SM Galaxy
Also #11. S/C/B, C/T/C, T/T/M, C/T/P, since I can't see it anywhere else.
Starting Pokemon from each series
Squirtle/Charmander/Bulbasaur for Red/Blue
Chikorita/Totodile/Cyndaquil for Gold/Silver/Crystal
Treecko/Torchic/Mudkip for Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald
Chimchar/Turtwig/Piplup for Diamond/Pearl/Platinum
Edit: Just noticed Michael's edit from earlier, sorry about that

Who is Philip J. Fry, why would someone who's only good at videogames be pretentious enough to put his middle initial in his name, and how and why do some of you memorise things like starting Pokemon and random numbers related to Super Mario games?

I played and finished Super Mario Galaxy recently, and the 242 just clicked with me. As for the Pokemon thing, I'm not sure I even want to know how I remembered that.
