I no longer have any interest in a game where a player calls me a retard on my first attempt. Have fun between yourselves.
End of story.

Is it tarred?

That's a bit rubbish - although I'd recommend just giving the individual involved a wide berth, and playing with the rest of us. We're (almost exclusively) a lovely bunch, and apterous is awesome - it'd seem a shame to give up on it just because of one person being a lamer.

Who was this person?

I suspect it was some balding drunk guy who plays a lot during the day. Not sure who though.
Wouldn't worry about it, Mo, you must have been around on the Internet long enough to know that people say all kinds of rubbish and it's rather hard to tell the tone with which it's said.

Am happy to cut and paste the chat dialogue in here, so those who are curious can see the full sequence of events.
I readily offered an outstretched hand to Mo, but she obviously has no sense of humour at all. Next time maybe better to leave them waffling away to themselves in chat without paying them any attention. Strange person indeed.

Just looked at the chat archives and I didn't think it was that bad FWIW I used to struggle with the numbers especially when there was brackets
I wonder if a demo on youtube or something may help in future

I can see how that could be taken badly, but within the context of trying to be helpful, a little further dialogue may have been more effective.
That said, maybe being a Fife lass she wasn't happy without being able to deliver a swift, restorative kick to the baws, and thus felt too frustrated to chat further.

'You're not a retard are you?'
Surely thats almost the exact opposite of calling someone a retard. Darter.

Nothing too serious really, but the real point (others have pointed this out but I will again anyway) is that even if it was, you don't leave somewhere because of just one person that causes you a problem. It isn't necessarily indicative of a whole group of players.
