Countdown recap for Tuesday 19 May 2009.

C1: Champion Jimmy Gough (6 wins, 632 points.) a fellow forumite, apterist and failed zookeeper who enjoys tennis, darts, football and juggling. Lets hope today he can revive his initial lexonerd pizzazz.

Round 11: M A Z I S E B I F

C1: iambis

RR: 575. (100-10-8)x7+1 (10) (After time)
Score: 72–62 (max 110)

A tricky numbers game evades both contestants but at least this time Jimmy manages to declare something, but the challenger is still within striking distance...

Round 15: S T I N G M I M I

C1 buzzes on 0 seconds to say he doesn't have it!
C2 does not buzz.
The answer was MISTIMING.
Score: 72–62 (max 120)

An agonising 30 seconds there for both players. Jimmy's Hansford technique/Sudbery tips aren't doing him any favours. A lull throughout rounds 6-11 saw him score only 14 points. That said today's letters were a bit of a biyatch with obscure Darrens allowing Jimmy to score only 5 maxes, and the challenger just 3. His Septochamp total is 704 by my reckoning so it will be interesting to see if he makes the 800 club tomorrow. C'mon Jimmy!

Due to exam commitments and attending studio recordings I'm bequeathing my next 2 recap dates to whoever wants them. They are Tuesday 2nd June and Tuesday 16th June. So if anyone fancies a go at recapping now is your time to shine! Don't mind who does them but if 2 people both want a turn they can have 1 each. If only 1 person steps up they can have them both.

Cheers

Is that because the numbers are never in o-o-o-o-order?

Very funny Dinos. Good recap too.
Looks like Jimmy's getting a bit nervous and uptight. I hope he lasts out.

Excellent recap Dinos. I can do one or both of those recap dates if no one else wants to, though mine won't be anything like as funny as yours.

I'm sure it will. To paraphrase our friend across the pond "You're a funny guy" :)
Take your pick from those dates. The latter is the 4th quarter-final if you fancy it.

Ooh, OK. Shame it's not the first semi - I could start writing it now...

"I learnt about basilisks reading Harry Potter 2 but I must have missed a chapter because Susie says a basilisk has lethal gays "

Brilliant!

Interesting that "gaze" and "gays" are homophones...

No one claimed the recap for Tuesday 2nd June so it hasn't been done. Does anyone still have the notes or fancy recapping it from 4OD while its still there. Thanks.

If no one else wants to do this, as seems to be the case, I'll do it as soon as I have time (which will be tomorrow).
