May daily duels

Post by Howard Somerset »

Although I'm making typos a little less frequently nowadays, I still made two in yesterday's duel which cost me 14 points and a very respectable, for me, 13th position.

Very carelessly entered TRAISPE instead of TRAIPSE.

And immediately realised that I'd pressed X instead of + in the second numbers round.

I see in a different thread that we've got a new numbers interface. I look forward to trying that, and wonder if it would've enabled be to correct my X.

I can only say I was somewhat amused to see the results of yesterday's duel. Quite pleased to see my numbers managing to actually be helpful for once, though.

So did half the field go for definites in round 6 yesterday? (I didn't check everybody that scored 0, but there were 27 nils that round out of 55 people.)

Wow - just had a look and quite a few shit-hot players did, including Kirk, Charlie and Damian.

Not being shit-hot myself, I scored some points that round with INFESTED. 8-)

Cool, everyone found it hard then, I jacked it in after 7 rounds and only 1 point, I'll pick it up again later and hope to come out with about 3 or 4 (usually I consider less than 2/3 of maxes in the duel a failure and less than 50% a complete disaster).

On duels like today's I'm thrilled to get as much as one point. I know last time we had one like this, I ended up with zero. Seeing that others also found it hard has really encouraged me. :)

Wow - I came 30th on the duel because apterous crashed before I saw the conundrum. When I logged back in it said I'd already finished the duel despite not seeing the conundrum (which is easy). Had I got it I'd have had a max game and come 1st. Stupid computers.

I know the feeling Kirk - The same thing happened to me on Tuesday, as my screen locked whilst the conundrum was coming up and by the time I saw it my time was up.

As you say, bloody computers!

Sounds good to me. There's little other chance I've got of coming only six positions behind you, Kirk. :)

It's nothing to do with time of day. I noticed that Damian was doing his duel challenge at the same time as me. Yet we only had one conundrum in common out of four.

I'm pleasantly surprised by how well I did on that duel. 4th?! What happened to everyone else? Mind you, it was nice to have an opportunity to show that, despite what it may look like from my appearances on the show, I can actually do the numbers pretty well, so thanks Charlie. :)
Particularly liked round 9- only two of us maxed it! Did everyone else enter 998 then try to fudge it?
Edit: Just noticed Junaid got 1006, and couldn't get any closer than that, which is pretty impressive. Has anyone ever declared anything above 1000 on the show?

Unless anybody has done it before, I'm demanding some kind of dunce-based item for my two 0s in a row.

Not really important but I was only getting about 2 seconds for each conundrum today too.

I think it was great. It's a nice feeling to get (significantly) less than half and still come 7th. Much more interesting than the duels where one tiny error moves you down about 20 places.
